Comfortable accommodations. Friendly staff. Deer in the parking lot. Just a nice place to stay before our 4 day/3 night hike to the Colorado River via South Kaibab trail and out on the Bright Angel trail.

Good place to stay when wanting to stay withing the national park. Parking was bad had to park pretty far away from the hotel building I was staying in. I recommend you stay in the hotel or any that are within the park. Not fun to drive in when wanting to see the sunrise!

Room Tip: Rooms without A/C have lovers on the door that could be opened from the outside. This would allow an...

The room is comfy, it was booked with the train ride and grand canyon hotel stay. If you want luxury, then go to San Fran. We went to see the canyon and spent all day walking and looking. Make sure you you see sunset and sunrise, and thats why we stayed. It was well worth it !!!

Room Tip: A wonderful night of sleep at 7000 feet.

Is the Maswik the preferred location at the South Rim? Is it a great bargain? No, and No. However, considering the fact you're in a National Park, it does OK on both accounts.

I have used the Maswik several times as pre- or post- canyon hiking lodging, and it does the job of providing a comfortable room, close to trailhead or shuttles, and their cafeteria opens early enough (6am on this visit) to grab a quick coffee and breakfast before hitting the trail. 6 ladies had two rooms, and it was quiet and comfortable in the building they put us in, with parking right out front (was it called Red Wing? Red something.)

If I was going to the South Rim alone, as a destination, I'd shoot for the Bright Angel cabins. But the Maswick will suffice!

We stayed one night at the Grand Canyon and stayed in one of the cabin type rooms (4 rooms to a building). When you are spending time with nature, why not "rough-it" a little! Actually the room was quite nice and we really enjoyed our stay. Got to check in early. All the staff we came in contact with were very nice. We asked about where to get ice while in the main building and they brought us out a bag of ice!. The refrigerator in the room kept everything nice and cold including the exta ice that did not fit in the bucket. It was quite warm when we arrived and the room was hot. With no A/C we thought we made a mistake. We did not. We opened the windows and the room cooled nicely. It went down to 30 that night and needed the heat. It worked well. The shower had good pressure and nice and hot. Elk were grazing in our area in the evening which was cool. Don't come here expecting 5 star quality. Come here with the mind set of high class camping and you will love the place. Remember you are in the woods!!!

Well-appointed hotel rooms - we were in town for a wedding and 4 of us were sharing a room. The website indicated a microwave in the room and there was none, door to balcony was unlocked when we arrived, but otherwise the room was great. Coffee maker, iron, board and hair dryer. The shower was good pressure and I loved that there was shampoo, conditioner & body wash provided. The environmental efforts of the hotel were also prominently placed. The bed was comfortable and it sure was dark and quiet for sleeping!

Didn't require assistance other than check-in, check-out but all staff smiled anytime we passed and made eye contact.

The layout of buildings for rooms was a bit confusing to navigate at first but only took a few minutes to figure out. Clean, open land and beautifully maintained property.

It is a hotel inside a national park so I understand prices will be higher but the price v. amenities was quite askew. We paid $190+ $10 per person extra per night. My friend was getting married at the rim so we were a captive audience. For the $210 we paid it would have been nice to get something other than a second floor room instead of ground level. Updated decor, a better television, wi-fi, the microwave the website indicated we would have (but didn't),SOMEthing for the added money would have been nice.

Overall friendly staff, good options around for dining and a short drive from our hotel to the spot for the wedding made it a comfortable stay. The price however will ensure I probably won't stay again.

We only stayed one day because of time constraints. We would have stayed here longer if we could. The room was decent but not great. It felt like what you would expect from a lodge room, rustic and not updated. It was clean and comfortable. Nice roomy balcony area overlooking the quaint railroad. The rest was all forest. Great location is a three minute walk to the bus stop for free canyon scenery tours. Sorry no room pics.
