“Beautiful Cabins on the Rim of the Grand Canyon”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 8, 2013 via mobile

The Cabins- 6157 & 6158 were perfect for the 4 of us. The cabins have their own private back entrance and share a corridor. Then the 2nd back doors are completely separate. Our older teenage took cabin 6157. It had a nicer fireplace and had a smaller window facing the Canyon with the larger window facing left , with partial view and close to the parking lot. We had cabin 6158 , with a not so pretty Fireplace but with a larger window facing the canyon with views through the small trees. Two chairs and a table were positioned perfectly to look out. Both cabins had front ( canyon side) entrances. Our cabins sat high enough away from the public walking path for privacy. We booked these cabins 9 months in advance.
The Bathrooms were small but they were all ours. Soap, shampoo and conditioner that are environmentally friendly were provided . There are tea & coffee making facilities and a small bar fridge for keeping drinks cold. Wifi was provided free to us but we could only pick it up in our private corridor not in our rooms. Parking is not assigned and is non existent if you arrive around sunset, however we did unload and then waited for the day trippers to leave and found a spot. The next morning we moved the car to a spot outside our cabins! Overall a fantastic stay . Thank You.

Thank you for your positive comments about our Bright Angel Lodge. Mary Colter was a genius and did a great job designing a lower cost alternative to El Tovar. The lodge was and still is the central gathering place at the South Rim. You were lucky to get the rim cabins! I will forward your comments to our senior management so they can share with our staff.

Thank you again for sharing your experience with us and others.

We stayed in one of the rim cabins and I have to say I couldn't fault it. From reception to dining to the bus drivers everyone we came in contact with was friendly and helpful. The cabin was bigger than I expected and the view was breath taking , will definitely be back.

Room Tip: worth booking a partial rim cabin , we booked ours 12 months before we went and we got probably the...

Not impressed with this overnight stop in the Powell Suite, the room was small and non air-conditioned, the bathroom was very small (I have a 44" chest) and can just turn around in the shower cubicle. Thankfully we were only here for the night, I would not like to repeat the experience, which is a shame for the rest of the infrastructure was spot on, especially the free bus service along the rim of the canyon.

I looked 3 days before we had plans to go to the GC for a cancellation and got one! Bright Angel partial view cabin. It was perfect. My children slept in while I had coffee steps away from the room with a view of the GC. Cute room, queen with a roll-away bed. Clean, pefect.

We only spent two days at the Grand Canyon, so we opted for the cheapest option available - $73 per night, shared toilet and shower.
The room had a sink and refrigerator, which were both a welcome surprise as we were really only expecting a bed and night stand. Wi-Fi didn't work from our room, had to walk to the lobby/restaurant to get reception, but that's not why you're visiting the Grand Canyon, is it?
We'd definitely stay here again!

Reserved this cabin on the rim (#4168) a year ahead of trip. It was fabulous being right there in the morning for sunrises and evenings for sunsets. Husband & I brought our granddaughter so we had to get a cot. Little tight quarters, but we folded up the cot when not using it. We were there end of June and didn't miss a/c; nights were comfortable. Loved getting up in the morning and being able to get coffee at 5:30 at Bright Angel Lodge a few steps away. Bathroom was nice, cabin was cozy and rustic. Had a little refrigerator and TV and beds were comfortable. This is the way to go! The location says it all.

Room Tip: Had cabin 4168 (across from the Kolb gallery) which faced the rim sideways which provided more priva...

Very friendly. I got a special offer without even asking.
Great place to start a hike to the grand canyon.
Only downside is that at least my room had no aircon.
But a clean and nice room is all I ever wanted.
