Considering how expensive this hotel is, you think you would at least get a view for your bucks, but that certainly wasn't the case with our "partial canyon view" room for $190 per night! The room is small, old and the view is a roof, and then the canyon. It's probably worth the money to get a room with an actual view. Also, during our stay, workmen were doing construction on the roof right outside our window, so we couldn't even have the curtains open from 8 to 6!
Also, beware of staying at any of these lodges if you like to sleep in. I thought it would be the workers waking us up at 8, but it was actually our neighbors being noisy at 5 am as they were preparing to go hike or something! I'm sure this is pretty common, for people to get up this early, but hopefully they are usually more considerate.
We had booked this room for a couple of days after we ran over from the north rim, but after one night, we had had enough. The manager was very nice about us leaving early, and even gave us some money back on the room because of the workers. I wouldn't stay here again, at least not in a partial view room.More
