I just finished a four day backpacking trip through the Black Canyon with guides Merik Morgan and Russ Nordstrand of Wildland Trekking Co. The trip was phenomenal. Amazing, knowledgeable (and funny) guides, great food, stunning campsites and breathtaking views. This is a must go trip.

Being our first time at the Grand Canyon and only having one day to see it we knew we needed someone to guide us in order to see as much as we could. After a bit of research we settled on The Wildland Trekking Company and are so glad we did! Our guide Shanye was AWESOME!! We spent an amazing day hiking into the canyon. Shanye communicated with us before hand exactly what to wear and bring so we were very prepared. He provided great snacks and an incredible lunch to keep us energized the entire way. We came away with so much knowledge of the canyon, some wonderful pictures and a new friend! Would definitely recommend it, worth every penny! Thanks Shanye!!

My Son and I just finished our second Grand Canyon backpacking trip with Wildland Trekking. Our second trip was every bit as amazing and enjoyable as the first one. Wildland provides good quality gear, delicious food, and the best guides in the canyon. Our guide this year, Tiffany, seemed to know everything there is to know about the Grand Canyon history and geology. Like our guide last year, she did an excellent job from the first minute to the last and I'm led to believe that Wildland attracts and employs the best guides in the area.

Our Hermit Loop trip took us down the The Hermit Trail to Hermit Creek (camp), across the Tonto trail to Monument Creek (camp) and Horn Creek (camp), and then up the Bright Angel trail. The Hermit Trail is unmaintained and can be challenging in a few places but is not nearly as difficult as the terrain we encountered in the East of the canyon last year. The highlight of the our trip was a spending the day a Granite Rapids. The worst part was on the last day hiking up the Bright Angel trail and dealing with the runners coming down (most were rude and inconsiderate to everyone else using the trails) and returning to the crowds on the rim. You don't realize how much you have adjusted to the wilderness until you return to the buzz of civilization.

Don't attempt a Grand Canyon backpacking trip unless you are in good physical shape and have trained for several months. Most multi-day trips involve hikes of up to 10 miles carrying a pack with 25-35 lbs up and down elevation. Do yourself a favor and follow Wildland Trekking's advice for conditioning. My personal recommendation is to spend a few days in Sedona or Utah doing a few day hikes just before you go on your overnight. You'll enjoy it much more.

I went on the 4 day Havasu Falls adventure will 11 other hikers and 2 guides (Wes and Russ). It was one of the best experiences I have ever had. The guides were great cooks and enlightened us with fictional and non fictional stories about the canyon. The canyon was amazing, and the sights we saw were beyond belief. The rock climbing down Mooney Falls was amazing. Wildland Trekking Co. was a great company to go with. They had all the details worked out ahead of time. They prepared us with a pre trip checklist and a pre hike meeting. Our group was big, but everyone got along great, and the guides split up to ensure that everyone from the fast hikers to the strollers were taken care of. I will definatly go on another trip with Wildland Trekking.

It's obvious that Trip Advisor was instrumental in making my choice to use Wildland Trekking! You’re here reading this because like me, prior testimonials provided the commentaries for making better choices on your trip.
Based on Trip Advisor, the outfitter options for our hiking trip to Havasu Falls were easily and clearly made by public opinion. Wildlands Trekking was #1 by a landslide and they deserve every vote. Our trip was handled effortlessly, without pushing, with great enthusiasm, help and anticipation to make appropriate decisions. The professionalism and the skill to organize our needs even when we changed the date or number of people were eagerly and happily accommodated! Myriam led my wife and I on a 3 day hike of over 28 miles in a little over 48 hours. Her understanding of the geology, flora and fauna and ecosystems of the deepening canyon, tribal customs and Havasu Creek Falls and oasis added to our understanding of the region. She hand-picked and packed for our gourmet meals and snacks. She and the company arranged the mules to carry our gear to the campsite. Lauri and I we're responsible for our 3 liters of water and shoes. Even the clean packs, hiking poles and any other needs were covered. We could not have asked for and were exceptionally delighted with our beautiful international “gazelle” of a hiking guide. We are avid trekkers of up to 14 mile trails but even with our prior experience there is always a short-cut or missed trailhead or lizard, cactus rose or blue jay we would have easily missed without her eagle eyes. She made a fun, camping and hiking experience exceptional. I hope your experience is every bit equal!!!
