It really is everything you think the 7th wonder of the world will be and more! We were not disappointed. Our first view from the Desert View Watchtower was breathtaking. Photos really don't do the Canyon justice. An elk welcomed us as we drove into the park! We really enjoyed hiking the Rim trails as well as the Bright Angel trail (not the whole thing, too hot!). The shuttle service is fantastic because you can tailor your hikes to what you want to specifically visit. Definitely make a visit to the Yavapai Geological Center. It really helps you understand the Canyon. A visit to the El Tovar is a must. We ate lunch there and it was delicious. It also makes for a nice midday stop. Sunsets and stargazing are perfect ways to end the day. Lots of elk around El Tovar at that time of the day as well. There is honestly nothing like a night sky at the Grand Canyon. I would also recommend hiking/visiting the western parts of the Rim trail toward Hermit's rest. You get alot more views of the river and it changes color in this part. Also, follow the suggestions in the Canyon newsletter. It was incredibly helpful!
