Owner description: One of the two superhighways of the Grand Canyon, this well maintained and popular trail offers breathtaking vistas, some shaded areas, plus a number of rest stops that have drinking water.

The view from this point is out of this world : take time and drink it in. And make sure to take a great camera to capture everything that is perfect about this place. Be sure to take plenty of water though!!

We enjoyed the Bright Angel Trail to it's 1.5 mi rest stop and enjoyed the wonderful views and jaw dropping geology for the 2.5 hour round trip. This is a busy trail (even w/o any mules) so prepare yourself with your best trail etiquette. Hikers going UPHILL have the right of way, and please move the the side of the trail to let oncoming traffic pass you. Finally, PACK YOUR TRASH BACK OUT WITH YOU, PLEASE.

The trail itself can get quite slippery, so bring shoes that have good traction and can be freed of the slippery red mud that's found here. Amazingly, we saw many endurance athletes here doing a round trip run to the north rim, as well as those hearty souls going to the bottom and back. Remember that you climb back up to 6000' when you're at the south rim - this is not an easy hike for flat-landers.

A highlight of our trip. Walked down to plateau point a favourite place in the grand canyon .personally if you are not going to make the effort to do one of the trails down the Grand canyon I wouldn't bother going , the rim views are a real yawn feast , make sure you are up for it by doing some walking leading up to you trip. We did the walk in 6hours 15 minutes including 40 minutes at plateau point. we would have spent longer at the bottom if we had realised the time it would take as estimated by the track booklets 9 to 12 hours was a very slow pace

This is by far the most popular trail, but it's understandable why. The trail is very well maintained and even offers rest houses, compost bathrooms, and water at 1.5 miles, 3 miles, and I think 6 miles. Don't quote me on the last one. We only went as far as the 3 mile rest house. Everything about this trail is fantastic. It's nice to be able to actually get into the Canyon for a different perspective, even if only a few miles. I recommend at least going to the 3 mile rest house if you can, time and experience permitting. It's approximately 2000' down into the canyon, so keep that in mind when you think of the hike back up, but it will give you a good mid level view of things. I won't go into preparations and precautions here, but if you're an inexperienced or novice hiker, please check out the Canyon's page at nps.gov for information. It is best to be prepared for trails going into the Canyon

Of course the trail is difficult by nature, but it is well maintained. We even saw some crews fixing problem areas while we were hiking. The views are amazing. Please visit our national parks. Especially this one!
