Compared to all the other trails, this one was nice and easy! We started at the west side of the park, so this was an early stop and was delightful.

By the time you reach the Avalanche area, it’s time to get out and walk around. For those with small children or those with limited mobility, this level boardwalk is a helpful way to exit your vehicles. This is rainforest area with cedars, hemlocks and firs with a stream. There is restroom area nearby and picnic area, also. For longer hike aspirations there is avalanche lake trail nearby. The downgrade of rating is simply from the popularity and trouble locating parking spot. If you are driving in Glacier NP, you need to get out of your car.

The boardwalk through the cedars is an easy walk with some unique things to see. Be prepared for people blocking the Avalanche Gorge bridge while they're taking pictures of the water rushing through.

We did the .9 mile loop in this amazing place with a light snow tipping the trees. It was magically beautiful. You didn’t know where to look because of the sheer beauty of the place. The trail was, of course, wet and a bit slushy so wear good, waterproof boots. Prepare with warm gloves and proper layers because it was below freezing. Breathe in this special place! It smells like Christmas!

This is a “hike” that provides easy handicap access. From the parking area the loop is comprised of a wide boardwalk giving access for hikers, wheelchairs, strollers, etc. This is a short easy stroll through beautiful huge Cedars.
