Took the boat ride over to the trailhead which I feel was a good idea because it gave us more time and energy for the best part of the hike, and also gave us time to actually enjoy the glacier when we got there. It is not a difficult hike technically...no boulders to climb over, nothing "hairy," just a pretty constant uphill hike on a well-worn trail with spectacular views all the way. I think I said "Oh my God" a hundred times! It is a busy trail so you won't have it to yourself, but that should not deter you from going. Just make friends (we made several) and then you have extra eyes to keep a look out for the mountain goats and bears on the cliffs above you. This trail is popular for a reason...don't miss it.
