Good little spot to pick up basics like firewood (was 5 bucks a bundle in July 2012), ice, snacks and liquor / beer. Has a couple little restaurants as well. Firewood and ice we found was pretty much the same price no matter where we seemed to shop in Montana (whitefish, walmart, kaspelli...etc) So prices are fairly comparable here and save you a drive. Area as well that you can access lake McDonald if you are brave enough to go for a dip!

Glacier Raft Company is located here; Apgar at the west entrance. Everyone we talked to were helpful and friendly. They have a lot of information there.

We stopped by here during our week-long stay at Glacier so our kids could complete their "junior Ranger" process. At any national park, you can pick up a booklet of activities for your kids - they complete these & then return them to a ranger at a designated location. Then the kids get "sworn in" as "junior rangers." Our 6 & 10 year olds were super into it (13 year old declined - typical!). The rangers are very serious about this & it is a great way to get kids more into conservation, nature, etc. Highly recommend it if you are traveling to a national park with kids in about the 6 - 12 range.

We stopped by Apgar to find out information on places to hike in the park. The staff we friendly and tried hard, though not the most organized. Overall we found signage in the park to be quite poor. Therefore a stop at the info centre is essential.
