“Phenomenal”
Reviewed December 21, 2012

Under 800 yards yet packed with wildlife. Walk through a jungle of dwarf cypress to an observation deck then out into a sweeping expanse of sawgrass..... just the way it appeared hundreds of years ago. Black Vultures, Turkey Vultures and White Ibis overhead. Reddish Egrets and Little Blue Herons posed for cameras. How does it get better than this in 800 yards?

“Turtles near the road”
Reviewed December 12, 2012

What to bring
- water
- sunscreen
- repellent (just in case, I didn't have problems with mosquitoes)
- hat
- light clothes

Tip
- when we drove to this location we saw 2 turtles crossing the road and we rescued them. Drive carefully. Turtles walk near the road.

Pros
- beautiful views
- wildlife
- peaceful
- easy

Cons
- some plastic bottles (?!)

I highly recommend it. Everglades National Park is absolutely gorgeous. I hope to return soon.

“Good But...”
Reviewed November 25, 2012

I really really liked the easy walk and the vast view of the prairie. The river of grass is beautiful and awesome. BUT...the observation tower now has the WORST view in the whole park. The trees have grown so you can't get the wow factor from up high- still good photo shots but it's just from board walk level. As long as you know that going in...you won't be as disappointed when you get there.

“Excellent View of the River of Grass”
Reviewed November 25, 2012

The Pay-hay-okee trail is a short 0.25 mile boardwalk that takes one to an over look of the Everglades and one can appreciate why it is called the river of grass. This is an excellent sunset location with good photographic opportunities.

“Overlooks the vast prairie”
Reviewed April 4, 2012

This short trail gives a good perspective on how vast the Everglades prairies are. Look for Sandhill Cranes which are often seen from this trail.
