“Contrast of Feet”
Reviewed April 22, 2013

Located right next to the Anhinga trail it is a delightful .4 mile contrast to the Slough boardwalk. I would suggest the Slough first as it includes the gators, and then moving to the Gumbo Limbo as it offers cover from the sun, which would be needed during the hotter months. I came just as the wet season was beginning, but I can imagine that the bugs certainly start to envelope the shaded regions as you enter the wet summer months. The contrast in topography is just a few feet, but the difference in ecosystems is stark transitioning away from the sawgrasses and willows to palms and gumbo limbos. Great way to teach kids about how minor variations can make big differences in ecology. Short hike, worth the time, especially as an add on to Anhinga.

“Cool walk in the woods”
Reviewed April 11, 2013

This short trail near Anhinga in the Royal Palm area was pleasant under the trees and foilage. I didn't see a lot of wildlife, but there were some tropical sites throughout the trail. Also one resident Alligator, keeping an eye on things.

“At least there's shade”
Reviewed April 2, 2013

After the Anhinga Trail, the Gumbo Limbo trail failed to impress. Maybe it's interesting for people who love trees.

It was nice and shady, so you won't get too hot walking the trail. It's actually a paved path!! It's good for older people since it's not too long.

“It's okay, but don't invest too much time.”
Reviewed March 31, 2013

It's okay, but don't invest too much time. There is plenty of shade, so you'll find this is a good place to cool off on a hot Florida day, but there aren't too many Gumbo Limbo trees to see, nor much of anything else. It is only about a fifteen minute walk, so it might be worth the trip if you are already at Anhinga Trail and Royal Palm.

“A short walk in the woods”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

An opportunity to get out of the sun and into the shade. Some informative plaques along the way but not much to see except for trees and foliage. Still, it was enjoyable!
