“another nice side trip”
Reviewed March 18, 2014

away from the main road and the crowds, good info on the ecosystem and nice views, not much wildlife except those persistant mosquitoes

“Owls, Mahogany Trees & Poison Wood”
Reviewed March 14, 2014

This is a must-do walk. We never saw mahogany trees growing before. One housed a great horned owl nest with twin owlets. Mom sat on a branch not far away. Also, the red-trunked gumbo trees fascinated us. We kept well away from the poison wood trees as per warning signs--they are poison!

“What a great walk and talk”
Reviewed March 13, 2014

We learned so much from this walk. Our ranger (can't remember hear name, she is from Missouri) was so passionate and inspirational. She took a subject that could have been boring and made it interesting. Thank you NPS!

“Unique access”
Reviewed March 5, 2014

This trail provides a different view of the park than other areas. Boardwalk, accessible trail through a hammock. Good way to view the different types of vegetation given most hammocks are inaccessible.

“Mahogany Hammock”
Reviewed February 12, 2014

Interesting trail into a hammock which provides a great example of the dramatic changes in plants and habitat provided by just a small increase in elevation. Fun and interesting hike.
