Description: The Black Bear is the place to go for hand crafted, delicious food. Voted BEST CAFE IN ALASKA by Food Network, we proudly stand behind all that we do. Black Bear serves brunch every day until 3pm with delicious offerings such as biscuits & gravy, benedicts and classic egg breakfasts, BBQ pulled pork sandwiches on house brioche, burgers (both beefy and vegan) and our famous smoked gouda mac & cheese. Dinner offers something for everyone, from our vegan gluten-free coconut curry to wild Copper River coho salmon, braised short ribs and fresh handmade pasta with locally foraged morels. We love to find the best local and seasonal Alaskan products and bring them to the people. We offer a full espresso bar, crafting locally roasted SteamDot coffee, as well as shakes and fresh fruit smoothies. You can expect fresh pastries coming out of our in-house bakery throughout the day (some vegan, gluten-free too). And our deli case is always full of quick grab and go items to take on your adventures. If you're coming off a busy day, just grab a local beer or glass of wine to enjoy while you linger on our deck, breathe deep and take in the mountains. Black Bear offers something for everyone, whether you are on an indulgent dream vacation, or keeping on the healthy side. Locals love us, and you will too.

Instead of eating at our hotel for $60, we got 4 breakfast sandwiches and coffee or hot chocolate for $33. Although the price was still higher than back home, it was almost half the price of a hotel buffet breakfast.

We stopped at this coffee house during our trip to Denali based on our tour guide's recommendation and were not disappointed. Coffee was great, and we had a chance to check up using their wifi service. The only disappointment was the length of time to get service, as there was only one barista on duty during the morning rush. Still, I highly recommend the Black Bear Coffee House for great coffee.

We are neither vegans or gluten free eaters but when we travel seek out spots that offer vegan and gluten free because the food tends to be fresh, delicious, unique and the coffee is usually awesome. These spots are usually where we end up hanging out during our trip and the Black Bear Coffee House fits this category exactly. I recommend this spot especially if you want to eat healthy (or healthier) for a meal or two while you are in Denali National Park. Our group of five adults ate lunch there and had salads, smoothies, coffee, oatmeal bars, cheddar and sun dried tomato scones and banana bread. Everyone was pretty quiet while we ate and nobody offered to share what we had - a sure sign in our group that the food is very good. After we ate I bought 2 scones and 2 pieces of banana bread to have on hand for our bus trip to Kantishna the following day. I know I'll be back as soon as I can and will also purchase something to eat on our train ride to Fairbanks at the end of the week! Don't miss this spot if you like healthier eating - the baked goods are great and so is the coffee, and there is a breakfast menu and lunch menu that includes bagels, sandwiches, and black bean burritos. Enjoy!

We were in Denali on 5th to 7th July and were pleasantly surprised to get variety of very good veggie food at this place. We strongly recommend veggie rolls, veggie soup, veggie burrito at this place. Food was hot, tasty and healthy too.
