“Best Food and Best Value at Denali”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 3, 2011

This unassuming cafe in Cantwell just south of the main Denali entrance is the best place we found to eat. The menu is small, but everything is made from scratch and delicious. Prices are reasonable for Alaska - actually lower than many places we've been,

We're from Chicago and we think this restaurant would stand up and get the same kind of rating there.

On separate days, we each had the creamed halibut with spinach and rated it 5 star. We also had the ribeye and the grilled salmon taco, both of which were great. Breakfast and desserts are excellent as well.

“Stop here & have the halibut tacos”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2010

The halibut tacos were the best we've had. My husband had the halibut served "fish & chips style", which was also very good. They had a reindeer sausage & potato soup on special that day that really hit the spot after a long, drizzly day of hiking. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed. We're so glad we took the time & drove a bit out of our way to have dinner here.

“Wish we could've eaten here the whole time...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 19, 2010

The food was good and it was nice to be able to eat outside. I wish we would've been closer while we were at Denali, but we were staying in Healy, so it was a bit too far to drive. Definitely a good stop!

“Wish we had tried it for dinner”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 11, 2010

We were looking for a place to stop for breakfast on our way back to Anchorige and spotted this place---I had forgotten I had seen good reviews on it so I was open minded. From the road it looks like a joint but inside it is very cozy.

They were very busy but the help really bustled and additional help soon arrived.

The menu descriptions were mouthwatering and the food lived up to them.

We had had a bad dinner experience at anearby place and I was sorry we had passed up this place.

“two week trip and one of two best places we ate”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2010

Creative dishes and well prepared, healthy. If you are used to good restaurant food in other parts of the country, you'll enjoy this place. Alaska is big on fish, meat, fried stuff, pizzas and pies (good pies & fish). This place keeps the good but omits the bad parts of dining on the road in a palce off the beaten path
