Bread was stale and pasta was bland with very few ingredients. Not "gourmet" as said on website. Golf course looked like hills with dead grass.

Overall decent food, but I have a few reservations about recommending this restaurant.

Food quality was uneven. The prime rib was somewhat overcooked but otherwise acceptable. The "spinach lasagna" was almost all meat with only hints of spinach, but it was reported as reasonably tasty and was relatively inexpensive. The seafood sampler was about half the size of similar plates at other restaurants but came with a full-size price tag. Desert was a disappointment: the "warm" triple chocolate cake was not only cold but tasted stale,

Prices were $15-30 for most entrees, ranging from overpriced (seafood sampler) to reasonable ("spinach" lasagna).

Service was also uneven. The server seemed to pay attention less and less as the meal went on; he did not check water and drinks after the entrees were brought out.

Decor was bright and open with views of the nearby golf course.

An excellent fairly priced casual restaurant 10 miles north of Denali National Park. The spinach lasagna was to die for. The restaurant is seasonal.

We stayed at the Denali Lakeview Inn - so it was a short walk to the Black Diamond. Liked the food. Service was a little slow - but the pace in Alaska is generally slower than Los Angeles. Our server was really pleasant as were all the staff. Nice gift shop. Food was good and reasonably priced.

In June 2006, my wife and family ate at Black Diamond Grill, about 10 miles north of the park entrance on Parks Highway. It was clean and simple, but had great food. I ordered the prime rib and potatoes and vegetables. My wife had a fish dish. Both were outstanding. Prices were a little on the steep side, but restaurants tend to be expensive in Denali. The kids played minature golf in the back while my wife and I had a relaxing meal after the kids left.
We highly recommend this restaurant.
