“Meh....take a mask, get a shower right after”
Reviewed May 27, 2011

Looked forward to doing a 2h ATV tour and a longer rafting tour as a combo, but the rafting folks pushed our time up--and I foolishly accepted, though we were coming from Talkeetna at the south end of the park 2h away. The tour itself was so-so, ride, stop, talk about the view, repeat. Only wildlife seen was a hare, while driving the Parks Hwy from Talkeetna we saw porcupines and had a close encounter with a moose.
If you choose to do an ATV tour, keep in mind that you'll be driving through A LOT of dust. You may want to take along a breathing mask or a bandana to tie over your nose and mouth, unless you want to be coughing up and blowing out dirt balls for a few days....seriously. Also, don't plan on too much time before you hit a shower afterwards.

Denali ATV Adventures and Denali Raft Adventures work together to provide a combination ATV and Rafting trip. We’re sorry that the rafting time was moved, but Denali Raft Adventures did contact you in advance, and when you explained your displeasure at driving that morning, it was refunded in full without any fees.

When ATVing, getting a little dusty, wet, and even muddy is to be expected! On the four-wheelers, you are more exposed to the elements than you are on the side-by-side ATVs, and since you are in control of the ATV, you ultimately determine how wet and dirty you get. The Denali Wilderness Adventure, the 2.5 hour tour, is a novice to intermediate trail; therefore it is not as challenging as some of our other tours. Many of our guests have never been on an ATV before and the Denali Wilderness Adventure is a great way to try out an ATV and cover a variety of terrain that would take much longer to hike. We do make several stops along the way and although moose and other animals are often seen along the trails, we can never guarantee wildlife.

“Awesome Adventure Awaits”
Reviewed August 31, 2010

We wanted to something a bit different while in the Denali area and had heard great things about the ATV tour. They were all true. We rented a tandem ATV or "Rhino" and my husband opted for a single ATV. The safety briefing was good and the guides provided lots of additional information since it was our first time riding.

Being more adventurous than some in our group, there were a few moments of frustration when a middle-aged guest wearing a skirt and new sneakers decided to move at a snail's pace (what was she thinking?!) but hey, we made the best of it by hitting all the puddles and bumps and spacing out a bit to allow for some more speed along the old coal mine trail. The guides were very good at keeping the group together and making sure everyone was having a good time.

Another review said the trip was boring and scenery unexciting. This isn't Denali Park and it's not exactly a sightseeing tour. You do have nice views of Otto Lake and Healy Valley and we saw some eagles along the way.

If you want to get out in the fresh air and check out a different part of the Denali Park area, this is the thing for you. Get muddy, go fast and enjoy, like we did!

We are anxious to return to this family-owned and run group to try out the longer Stampede Road excursion the next time.

“Don't bother doing this. Better stuff to do in Denali.”
Reviewed August 13, 2010

Everyone one courteous and the place was well run. It was just not that fun. We signed up for 4 tandum ATVs. We are not dare devils however this ride was just two tame to be fun. You ride along dirt trails for about 2 hours and then for about 5 minutes on a creek bed. The scenery on most of the dirt trail is not particularly impressive and for understandable safety reasons you drive very slowly and tamely.

“Side by Side adventure!”
Reviewed August 10, 2010

What a great time. We took the “long” tour, it was a great ride, we rented a “Side by Side” and spent close to five hours on the trail. As an owner of ATV’s I don’t normally like to rent one on vacation because it seems most places take you on road or logging trails where I could drive a ford focus, and the pace is always slow and you seem to stop every ten minutes. This ride was not that, it was aggressive trails, a good pace and just the right amount of stops. Our guide Chris was top notch and set the perfect pace. The price was right and the equipment was new and well taken care of. I would highly recommend this adventure to anyone.

“What a Ball!”
Reviewed July 30, 2010

My wife & I took a 2 1/2 hour ATV tour with Denali ATV. We were both "rookies" on ATV's, but had a great time. The tour was a lot of fun, the guides walked us through the handling of the ATV's - really simple - and we were off. It was one of the high-lights of our Alaska vacation. The only drawback was that they claim to keep in touch by two-way radios in the helmets, but they did not. It would have been good to have a few points on interest pointed out to us. But overall, we had a great time.
