“Most Memorable Part of our Alaskan Vaction”
Reviewed May 16, 2013

"Camp Denali was the coolest place I went to in Alaska" said my 10 year old daughter- about the Camp Denali- we stayed at Camp Denali for 4 nights- this place is amazing - its magical- its charming, I cant say enough - one has to go and experience the natural beauty of what is Denali-
We were picked up by their buses from the train station- Maria our driver- guide was very well informed naturalist - drove the curves like a breeze and stopped for photo ops- the drive was several hours that went by very quickly - Arrival was a welcoming experience - the staff very charming - friendly - -The Cabins are located well apart - yet close enough - beautiful - log cabins- each with personality and charm of its own. The beds were clean and very comfy- All Cabins have view of Denali -North Face- you even get a nice view from your personal out house :) Each day started with an amazing gourmet breakfast and choice of variety of activities, The meals were all prepared in their gourmet kitchen - the chef and the staff prepared 4 star meals that were very well presented and served by attentive staff-
I just cant say enough- I hope that people have the opportunity to stay and discover for themselves the charm, the beauty and true hospitality of Denali- We plan to go back soon.

The highlight of our 30 day trip in Alaska. We also went to the north coast to see polar bears in Kaktovik and Kodiak bears on Kodiak Island, but Camp Denali was the most memorable, enjoyable exciting and relaxing part of the trip.
The staff are very professional, knowledge about the park and conservation and put safety as a priority regarding the bus ride in and when out in the tundra with wildlife around, the chef prepared food is amazing and healthy, the cabin accommodation is very high quality, gives privacy and a naturalist feel with a view of Mt McKinley and no electricity in the cabin (gas lighting and a fire place though).
The guest speaker Dr Neal Brown presented great information on the Aurora Borealis and during meal times shared his is experiences with the guests. Drew, Duke and Hannah made our drives/hikes enjoyable and informative (particularly in the areas of sporulation and matching the right critter to the right scat)
Camp Denali is great for all ages, abilities and interests (relaxing in the cabin or common areas, vehicle tour and photography, easy walking or to more strenuous hiking through the terrain to find wildlife, your choice).
We stayed on the last weekend of the season in Sept 2012, there was snow twice but only a light sprinkle which didn't stay on the ground much longer than an hour or so. Recommend getting up very early just before sunrise to avoid cloud cover of the mountain to get the best view from your cabin.
Saw lots of wildlife, many grizzlies, moose, birds and one lynx.

I cannot say enough about Camp Denali. My wife, sister and I spent three nights here in August of 2012. We spent time in Homer, Seward and then Denali (about 10 days in all). We all loved every minute of our trip to Alaska, but this place was by far the most incredible. Between the views of Denali, the Northern Lights, the wildlife to be seen and the hiking available it is a very special place. If you're looking for luxury, this is not going to be your cup of tea. If you want comfort, great service, excellent food, camaraderie with like-minded people, and a little adventure with a 'rustic' feel this place has it in spades. The hosts/owners have made this a haven for people of all backgrounds that love the outdoors. They have hired the most friendly and helpful staff that you will find and obviously have kept the original spirit of Camp Denali's founders alive and well. We will absolutely go back here someday. Not soon enough, I suspect.

Camp Denali exceeded my highest expectations. From the moment I was met by the bus at the Park entrance I knew I was in for a speicail experience. Every single member of the staff was knowledgeable and passionate about the area. THey cared about their guests. The small number of visitors and the large number of staff resulted in outstanidng service. The accommodations were simple but incredible in their comfort and cleanliness (including the outhouses). The views of Denali were amazing - right out the window of the cabin. The activities offered were varied. I chose to go on the "stenuous" hikes which gave us a full day off the road and into the wilderness. Meals were top rate. The owners ate in the dingin hal and knew all the guests by name the very first day.
If you like the out of doors and want to experience Denail from inside the park there is no better way to go

Room Tip: Every cabin has a specatcular view of Denali

Tough to say anything that's not been written about in glowing terms already about this magnificent operation.

Stayed with colleagues during a board meeting in early June as the lodge was just getting ready to open for the 2012 season.

Have been to Denali NP many times, but this was my only time staying at Camp Denali. Nearest I've stayed before was camping at Wonder Lake campground a few miles away.

They've got their own buses to transport guests from the park entrance area (pick up is at the train depot), and the drivers are professional, qualified, and knowledgable. Bonus that Camp Denali offers is the only picnic option along the park road (something that they were granted due to historic use when the park was established).

The facility itself is terrific. The large dining and common area is extremely comfortable. Guest cabins are scattered along a ridge on the property, all with great views toward "the mountain." Yes, you can sit on your deck and have a front row seat to views of the highest peak in North America - Mount McKinley. We enjoyed some beautiful weather with clear views - and it's spectacular to say the least. Cabins are what I'd call luxuriously appointed rustic - if that makes sense. The quilts are handmade by lodge staff! You've got water at the cabin, but each cabin has its own outhouse for bathroom facilities.

The meals were delicious and filling. Service from the on-site ownership team to their seasonal workers (many of whom are not "rookies") was impeccable and friendly.

Activities included hikes of varying durations and levels of difficulty. I enjoyed hiking the big ridge above and behind the camp which gives even better views of the Alaska Range - if you can imagine that since the views from the lodge and your cabins is extremely impressive to begin with! You can also hike down from your cabin to a creek where I was able to land two grayling in a short time between meetings.

This place is top-notch all the way, and I cannot recommend it more highly.

Room Tip: Some of the cabins are a bit of a walk from the main lodge and dining room. If you have mobility is...

I spent four nights at Camp Denali with the most wonderful group of people in August. We saw the big mountain (Denali) three days. The views of the mountains from the cabin exceeded my expectations. The cabin was comfortable and the lack of plumbing was easy to overcome with pitchers, teapot and propane stove and a wash basin all furnished inside the cabin. Even the outhouse was clean and comfortable (I think the permafrost helps with the odors). Hiking was informative as well as beautiful, even on the cloudy days. Wildlife viewing was amazing while walking or travelling on the camp bus. We canoed and biked along the park roadway as well. I figured this would be a "once in a lifetime" experience, now I'm finding this might easily be another "must do again" event. Denali offers a perfect park experience.

Room Tip: Ask to stay close to the lodge to avoid a long uphill walk to meals and showers.

Exquisite attention to detail that included not only the accommodations but the food and personal attention by the staff. Each day was spent hiking with a professional naturalist who shared their passion and expanded our understanding and appreciation for this magnificent national park. Don't shrink at the rates as you will undoubtably come away with a once in a lifetime experience and worth every penny. You won't see Mt. McKinley unless you get into the interior of the park and Camp Denali is by far your best choice.
