The bus ride in the park to the lodge with Gary was so enjoyable. He is knowledgeable and friendly. The sleeping cabins are clean and well maintained & very good heat. There is no TV which was good because you have no excuse for not getting enough sleep for the next days hike. The staff is very friendly and knowledgable about the area and animals. The bartender makes wonderful drinks. The hiking trails are amazing - there are blueberry & cranberry bushes with huge, great tasting berries. The Dog Team Presentation was great to see & a massage is a great way to end a day of hiking. Bring bug spray - the mosquitos are huge and abundant. On the ride out of the park, the clouds lifted revealing Mt. McKinley, it had been covered for many days. That was the perfect end to our stay in the park.

This Lodge makes an excellent base to do some exploring, hiking, and photography in the park. The cabins are nicely appointed and clean. The only thing you will miss is a television if that is what you were looking for. If you're looking to disconnect and get away from the world, this is the place. It is located deep in the park and Wonder lake and Mt McKinley are a short drive away. It is also close to an air strip where you can take flights around the parupend up to Mount McKinley. They also have sledding trips and other activities available nearby as well. The only thing I had a small issue with was that there is a fixed menu since it is a small lodge and I am somewhat of a picky eater. Can't really fault them, more of my own issue. If you're looking to get away in Denali national Park, I highly recommend this place.

Although the Kantishna Roadhouse is a 5 hour trip from the entrance of Denali and pretty pricey, it was WELL WORTH IT. The trip there and back is a tour of the entire park and the lodge has activities, guides, a bar and excellent food.

We stayed for two nights (the minimum) which was enough for us - I think any longer would have been too long as we did not have great weather. The trip was an unforgettable experience and if you are thinking of booking a lodge within the park--- this one was fantastic!

We took the Kantishna Roadhouse bus tour of Denali and it was definitely one of the best things we did during our entire visit to Alaska. It was a 13-hour trip and we wondered what it would be like to be on a bus all day. It was wonderful. Our guide, Gitte, was fabulous. She was patient to watch the meanderings of wildlife, and we were rewarded with many close (and safe) encounters. She was knowledgeable about the park and the surroundings; sharing with us about her very interesting life in Alaska. We happened to be there during peak foliage season and the colors could not have been any more brilliant. We saw bear, moose, caribou, eagles, Dall sheep, and even Mount McKinley! We had lunch at the Kantishna Roadhouse and the highlight there was the nature tour, given by Jill. She was so passionate about the tundra and shared with us much about the lichen and local habitat. We would definitely recommend this for anyone wanting to see the park in a day. Well worth it!

When we arrived the trash had not been taken out of our room. Dinner the first night was terrible. The second night was much better. Breakfast was cold because they didn't keep a heating source under the food. You better be prepared to hike in the morning because no other activities were planned in the morning. In the afternoon they planned a dog sled presentation at the same time that the gold panning activity was scheduled making it impossible to do both. No insulation between the shared wall with the adjacent cabin so it is difficult to sleep if your neighbor is talking even at a reasonable tone. I do want to brag on our bus tour director Kirsty. She did an excellent job! Overall, based on the price and other tours that I have done the quality was too low.
