“Worth the long ride”
Reviewed September 20, 2013

Mainly worth it for the wildlife you could see along the way and the scenery. Hope that Mt McKinley is visible when you visit as that is the frosting on the cake.

“Beautiful”
Reviewed September 18, 2013

Be sure to wait for the sunset if McKinley is out. The purples and pinks are breathtaking and well worth the hairy drive over the passes later.

“Peaceful. Beautiful. Worth The Long Shuttle Bus Ride!”
Reviewed September 17, 2013

We visited Wonder Lake on September 10th and it was well worth the long shuttle bus ride into the park. If you are concerned about the time it takes to reach the lake, get out at Eielson and do some hiking/walking before boarding another bus for the very short trip. The scenery to the lake is gorgeous, and you will not be bored. We still had a few mosquitoes, but they were worth the price of picking wild blueberries and walking on the tundra. We took the 7:15am shuttle, and it made a big difference in how we felt at the end of the day. The early morning shuttles tend to sell out faster than the afternoon shuttles, so book in advance to make the most of your time in the park. Buy your tickets at the Wilderness Access Center and board your shuttle bus there as well. We visited on a semi-cloudy day and still had a lovely visit. Clean bathrooms.

“Beautiful pictures”

Expected more, however, the pictures are awesome. They look like a postcard. We enjoyed picking the berries in the area.

“Time for Pause and Reflection”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

We stayed in Kantishna so the hike to Wonder Lake was a short one 3 to 4 miles. Great destination to sit and have lunch and just relax. Stand on the same spot where Ansiel Adams captured the now iconic view of Mt McKinley's reflection in the lake some 60 yrs ago makes you pause and reflect on this life's simple pleasures.
