Owner description: Enjoy a warm welcome and experience a true Alaskan lifestyle at Husky Homestead—home of Iditarod Champion, Jeff King. Husky Homestead is widely heralded as an authentic look into rural lifestyles based on 40 years of Alaskan adventures: from freight hauling on Denali to crossing the finish line in Nome, Alaska with a champion Iditarod team. Cuddle puppies upon arrival and share an intimate view of the Alaskan Husky as the team explodes from the dog yard and runs on our treadmill before hitting the trail for a training run. Get a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into creating a championship team and carving a life in Alaska's Interior. Hear compelling stories from the trail and see actual racing sleds, arctic survival gear and equipment used to traverse 1100 miles of Alaska's most rugged terrain. Our 2017 tour season begins May 10th and ends on September 21st. Special Note(s): Dress in warm layers. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Bring a jacket, gloves and a hat. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by parent or guardian. Outside portion of this tour is approximately 45 minutes, inside portion is approximately 45 minutes. We look forward to meeting you!

Had a great time. It doesn't take long to tell that everyone involved in Husky Homestead has a passion for what they do. We learned more than I expected about dog sleding and Alaskan Huskies. Definitely worth your time and money.

Totally worth the price of the ticket ($53)!!! You were picked up at your lodge, taken to the site where you were greeted by a baby puppy to hold and take pictures with. Then you receive a show/demonstration outside for about 30-45 minutes where you learned all about the dogs who are groomed to race in sled dog races, including the Iditarod. Learned lots! Then Jeff King had his dogs pull him on a ATV around the driveway so you can see how excited the dogs get to race. After that you're taking in the barn and Jeff talks to you about his experiences in the Iditarod. Both he and Ellen (I think her name was) were entertaining and fun. Totally recommend the tour!

Overall very nice. I Liked it but my expectation was that i would be riding on dogsled. There was no ride on dogsled. Still good, bought book, pictures. Kids love their time with puppies.

For anyone who has any interest in dog mushing...this is the place to go. Jeff and his team are awesome at educating you on all aspects. Of course, the puppies are amazing, too. And you even get to play with them :-)

We really enjoyed this adventure. Once greeted, we played with husky puppies for 20 minutes. Then we met adult sled dog champions and champion strivers. The dogs did tricks and Jeff King was hilarious. We just wish we had more time with them.
