Extraordinary architecture and craftsmanship - literally an oasis in the desert.

The tour was fascinating, and a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. This over-the-top mansion has an over-the-top story to match. This is a living history tour which allows you to get up close to amazing paintings, artwork, ceramics and wrought iron.

Take the time to do this tour while you can still walk through the rooms, and get up close to the actual pieces.

Be sure to leave ALL purses and bags in your car, no food or drink - not even a bottle of water - are allowed in the Castle.

Bonus: Your admission fee stays in park.

Death Valley is dry and hot and widespread. You don't see a lot of civilization here.
The castle has an eccentric background and great guides. Going here is great for a change because you see non stop natural sites, it is good to see a more human spot. It feels GREAT to go thru a house/castle as a break.
Scotty's Castle built here because they have 350 gallons a minute running water. A lot of celebrities have stayed here over the years.
They have their own power station, but I couldn't see that they had enough water, but, it was the DRY season so maybe more water in the winter?
Architecture is great, inside furnishings unusual and interesting.

We arrived to late to take the tour. It was strange to see this castle after spending the day driving aound Death Valley. They had a fire recently and the castle is fine. I am sure in its day it was grand.

Take the tour, the history of the place and it's occupants is very interesting. The 1930's technology is really cool - solar water heating, spring fed plumbing, central heat...
