“Artist's Palette is main attraction here”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 12, 2012

Although this drive is beautiful, I guess I expected a little more. I would definitely recommend it, just to see the Artist's Palette area, but the rest of the drive might start to seem redundant if you've been driving elsewhere in the park. Either way, it's worth the trip to the palette - get out of your car and hike all the way into the formation and you will truly be surrounded by the beautiful colors. The rocks/stones/minerals are at your fingertips and the colors seem to become more vibrant the closer you get.

It was a beautiful drive. The colours are brilliant and the geography was stunning. An artists and geographers dream.

“You can not get tired of these colored rock formations!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 27, 2012

This was the last place we saw before we left to Vegas and boy we had not got enough of the colored rock formations. Artist's drive is just awesome. It is a 7-8 mile one way road and the joy of driving is pure bonus on top of some really good views of the valley on the left and painted mountains on the right. Do stop for the Artist's Palette which is a small exit on the right and is not indicated in the map. Many people got a bit confused when the exit came.

“A must see in Death Valley”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 26, 2012

Death Valley is a great place with several points worth a stop, but definitely if you are in a rush, don't miss Artist Drive.
Artist Drive is a one-way loop that you typically get coming from Badwater, hence from south.
There are little words capable of describing the incredible mix of badlands, rocks formations and color variety that you can experience in the drive.
The most popular place on the drive is Artist's Palette, where mother nature has created an awesome mix of colors that are created by the presence of different minerals in the rock formations, from light green to rusty pink, to azure.... a real palette.
Drive there in mid afternoon and beyond, where the sun rays are creating the best experience.

“Colorful rock formations”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 24, 2012

Colorful rock formations, particularly at Artist's Palette. This is a popular destination in the central area of the park, so you share your drive and experience with many other folks.
