This was a Death Valley highlight for us. The rocks pushed together in a conglomerate formation and then highly polished was fantastic. Of all the things we saw and experienced, this will remain with us in photo and memory. I loved watching a family with four children whose mother was encouraging them to go on yet another hike as we were all entering the canyon together. She enticed them with getting to see real marble. They were a bit whiny as only traveling children could be until they walked into the tight winding canyon and could reach out to touch the smooth walls, imagining the force of water which created the marble. They were as enchanted as the rest of us visiting that day.

If you like marble, then this is the place for you. We got there at 8am and there was only one other car in the parking lot. The hike was short and easy, we hike the first half mile until the canyon open. The marble canyon walls were beautiful.

We walked into the canyon from the parking area, fairly early in the morning. Shadows played on the rocks, and the sun brought out the varied colors. There was some climbing involved - nothing too strenuous that couldn't be done with a little help, but not for the old and infirm. The marble was of particular interest - the smooth walls were beautiful. We have done this walk during the spring, when it was considerably hotter, and it helped to go early and stay in the shadows.

It is nice but not as great as Golden Canyon or Natural Bridge. Probably I expected more from it. Maybe the time of hike was not right. I went around sunset, when most of the canyon was in shade.

If you are in the Stovepipe Village area, then go to Mosaic Canyon.
There is a dirt road to get to the trailhead but it is not too rough.
One arrived, the trail begins and after half a mile you enter in a natural wonder of colored stones that look like marble.
I would definitely avoid to be there when it's raining or close to rain since the best part of the trip is on slickrocks that could become impossible to face when wet.
In summer I would bring a lot of water since most part of the trail is unshaded.
