“Breathtaking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

This was the highlight of our 10 day roadtrip through the Southwest. Absolutely spectacular views and a loads of fun for our sons to run and roll down the dunes. It is a good hike to get out to the dunes, but you can enjoy them from the road as well. Best to come when it is not too hot, as is the case with everything in Death Valley.

“Sand Dunes!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

We took a guided tour with the park ranger. She was a great help. There were lot of things out there , if you just walk by and you will not even notice. Bring plenty of water, if you are out there for 2 hours , you need to drink a gallon of water. The walk to the big sand dune is about a mile, you have to be physically fit to make the trip if you decide to walk that far.

“We had a blast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2013

Ran out through the dunes to see the sunset--what a great time, but get ready for a workout! Don't be afraid to take off your shoes and just pretend like you are at the beach; we did and had a blast. Also ran into a couple out there getting their wedding pictures taken (she was in a wedding gown)--crazy!

“One of Death Valley's treasure point”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2013

Here is your opportunity to view a magnificent sand dune, with forms changing constantly be the prevailing winds.

It is close to the road, so you can actually walk on the dunes and leave temporarily your footsteps on the dune.

If you are a photographer, a visit to Mesquite Dunes is a must, especially in the early morning hours or early evening hours.

“Heavily trafficked.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2013

The Mesquite Dunes are a beautiful sight from the road. I got up early in the morning to take sunrise photos, and perhaps because a lack of wind during the preceding days, thousands of human footprints were visible across almost every dune. So if you're looking to photograph a natural scene, you should keep this in mind.

That said, it was quiet in the morning, and the light on the sand was beautiful. Just count on there being crowds later in the day.
