Hotel was decent and clean. Cafe food was average, but we had a server who in my opinoin shouldn't be doing that job. He was an older gentleman who was rude and could barely carry plates he was shaking so bad. He forgot 1/2 the order and didn't seem to concerned about us or his mistake, would stay again but would just order a pizza or bring own food- from vegas where food service is important

Stayed here on a guided group hiking tour with CW (country walkers). The Inn and the Ranch I believe are two different locations. Stayed at the Inn. The hotel has an old but historic feel, and this just added to the awe inspiring feeling of Death Valley. Despite the age of the hotel, everything worked well. Our room (232) came with a beautiful balcony that faced the Valley, and you could see the Ranch a little ways away. The sunrise was spectacular from this vantage point. The shower and bathroom were more than adequate with an old style red heat lamp (remember those?!!! cool.). There was an ipod dock for charging, and wifi was free (good for sending pictures back home). Beds were very comfortable even though mine was a small twin. The only thing lacking was a room safe, so I had to hike with my passport and other valuables. The gardens and pool are lovely and seeing how they are in the middle of nowhere, they are just a delight to see. The hotel has lots of charm and character, and makes you want to learn all about US history and pioneers.

We ate at the restaurant twice for dinner and twice for breakfast. The food is excellent in taste, and in portion. The service was friendly, although very slow and this impeded our group as we had time deadlines to meetup for the daily hikes.

Overall, this place is a gem. It serves as an excellent base for exploring Death Valley and has many modern amenities that will make your stay very comfortable.

RANCH We had friends from Ireland. Reservations were perfect. Steak House,, breakfast buffet, and Corkscrew Cafe were very nice.

Our cabin rooms were spotless and cozy.

Inn dining room was a touch of class in desert and perfect for our guest's birthday.

Nice facility in the middle of desert. Clean and updated room. Friendly staff. We enjoyed our stay there and will go back. There are 2 or 3 restaurants on site. Kid playground and swimming pool and kid golf play area.

Room Tip: Great location. Close to all major attraction.

When we researched our trip on TA, many people had stated that the ranch was in an excellent location to tour the park and that it was hard to find a good reasonably priced meal. We agree with both statements. We flew into Las Vegas and shopped for groceries and beverages (not much shopping after Pahrump) which we were able to store in the room refrigerator. If there are rooms with microwaves as well, this would increase your options for "eating in".
