This was unlike anything i have ever seen or even expected to see here. Keep your cameras handy as there are many great pictures to take. The walk on the salt is pretty cool as well. On the way back to the ramp and road, look up in the immediate hills to see the "sea level" marker. It was amazing to visualize exactly how far below sea level you are. I recommend reading the little signs in the look out area to get a sense of the history of it.

“Must do in Death Valley”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 4, 2013

Visiting 288 feet below sea level is something that everyone would want to do at DV. Some like myself would want to visit DV just for this activity alone! Of course DV has much more offer as well. The walk along the salted ground is a great experience. The drive to the location is a little bit of a stretch from furnace creek, but it is quite worth the time. I would also suggest doing the artiste pallete and the racetrack along the way.

“Another planet”

What I love about the Badlands?
Unique, out of this world, see the expression of mother. Nature at its extreme best.
Experienced seeing the crystals pushing the earth up. Also, what a gift to watch the sun rising from the gigantic mountains from the east as it quickly lit up the dark valley. Transformed the light quickly.

Warning! Do not run here, the sulphur gets in your lungs and you are quickly out of breathe.

Beautiful and stunning landscape.

“Don't drink it”

but do come and take a look. You're not likely to see anything like it anywhere else you go. You can walk out on the salt flats. This must have been a scary place to early explorers.

“Great drive to the lowest point in the US”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 15, 2013

The drive from Furnace Creek is like a moonscape. Good hiway, as they all are. Beautiful vistas. Badwater is a pulloff with parking lot and facilities and a short walk to the salt flats. Walk out on the flats for a new perspective on the valley.
