The park is so lovely, the lake views are breathtaking. The lodge must have been some kind of fabulous when constructed. The public rooms with their massive fireplaces, large windows, paneling and cozy seating areas are terrific. An old world ambiance that is very charming. The day we arrived, the snow came down pretty hard and visibility was non existent. Everyone sat in groups, as close to the fires as possible, playing games, chatting and having snacks and beverages....super cool.

The guest bedrooms haven't been updated in a while- very tired looking. The curtains in our room were terribly stained, the bed coverings just a tad above shabby. Thankfully, the linens were fresh and crisp. Not having a tv didn't bother me, but it would be great if they could do something about the internet and cell service.

The dining menu for dinner, read very well. The food was average- not bad but not as tasty or well prepared as it should have been. As expected, it was overpriced. Our server was pleasant and comfortable with the menu. However, she brought the entrees barely five minutes after serving the salad, made us feel rather rushed and having to choose between eating the salad or eating a warm entree.

I will go back for the park, hopefully, an investment in a lodge spruce up will keep this treasure around in good shape for years to come.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the lake

The only property that is located on the rim of the lake with a breath taking view. They have done a good job of modernizing the old hotel and still retaining the charm. The restaurant is excellent and the rooms are clean and comfortable. i

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the lake.

Stayed one snowy night in October 2017, and was not disappointed at all.
Despite the 'white out' evening snow storm, the next day dawned bright and clear...with commanding views of the Lake.
Big, roaring fireplace fires were absolutely welcomed.
'Great Room' was exactly that...GREAT !
Dining experience was uneven due to clam chowder served cold, and breakfast bacon
being anything other than as ordered; namely well done.
Regardless, the waitresses were positively super, and very kind.
Distinguished employee was LAUREL...on the front desk...who came into the dining
room, and told us that our room was ready...well ahead of schedule, and later proved to be as thoughtful, and guest-oriented as anyone could ever hope for...so special
thanks and recognition are due her...by guest and management alike.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the Lake...not the parking lot.

We had an amazing day and night at the Crater Lake Lodge. The Lodge is situated right on the lake, the only place to stay or eat in the entire park. When you walk in, you feel as if you've stepped into the early 1900's. There are no TVs in the room, no radio, no entertainment provided. It is perfectly set up for you to enjoy the breathtaking surroundings of Crater Lake. Once the sun sets, you can bundle up, walk right outside the back door of the lodge onto the patio and see more stars than you've ever seen in your life.
The food at the restaurant is great as well. I had the filet and it was cooked perfectly.

Room Tip: Request a room on the second floor if you're going early in the season

It's the setting! OK, it's more than that. But the scenery ain't shabby. After trying for several weeks, we were able to get reservations at the Lodge. It's often booked a year in advance. Glad we did. Staying at the Lodge sure enhanced our Crater Lake experience.

The Lodge is a great place (particular since it's one of the only places to stay anywhere around). We thoroughly enjoyed being able to walk out the door and see the Lake. Checking in and the people at the front desk are terrific. At down times for them, I engaged them in discussions about their work and the Park. They were excited that someone was interested. The Lodge is so iconic (particularly since it was essentially rebuilt in the 1990s). It was so neat to sit in the Great Room and have a drink or listen to a Ranger talk.

The room, just OK. Ours was a queen overlooking the Lake (well we had to turn a bit sideways to see the Lake). The room was very small with an uncomfortable easy chair, a small desk with chair, the bed and bed table. Not much room. The bathroom was similarly small. In their renovation, the only place they goofed was the vanity. It's a Formica job out of the 70s. Room was clean and well maintained.

Ah, but the majesty of the setting overshadows all else. We were lucky to stay there and would welcome the opportunity to do so again.
