“High Prices, mediocre food and service”
Reviewed June 13, 2013

You can't beat Crater Lake for its natural beauty, but don't expect to be rewarded after a day of hiking with a great meal at the lodge. The meat, ordered medium rare, was overdone, the risotto undercooked, and the entire meal overpriced. The only thing satisfactory was the creme brule cheesecake offered to us as partial compensation for the dismal dining experience.

Thank you for taking the time to review the Crater Lake Lodge dining room. We are always striving to improve and we take your feedback very seriously.
I am sorry that your meal was not up to our normally very high standards. I have posted your comments for the dining room staff along with a lesson for everyone on how to properly address issues. My philosophy and the one I have attempted to instill in my staff is “Everybody leaves happy”. Buying a dessert is a nice gesture for minor inconveniences, but obviously did not go far enough to have you leave feeling happy and satisfied that the situation was adequately resolved. Most guests who are unhappy do not give us the opportunity and just leave dissatisfied which makes your situation especially disappointing.
Thank you for letting us know about our failures in both execution and follow-up. With this knowledge we are able to grow, improve and prevent this kind of situation from happening in the future.

“Terrific lunch in a gorgeous hotel..review is restaurant only!”
Reviewed June 11, 2013

Met friends here for lunch..we coming from FL, them coming from WA state. The lodge is beautiful, and the restaurant is great. We visited the lake then joined for lunch. Seafood Ciappino, trout, veggie ciabatta and mushroom pasta, all excellent. Server jus wonderful. Reasonable prices...oh, and did I mention the view? If you want to go, however, get a reservation!!

Reservations are required for dinner, which we tried to make but were directed to a voice mailbox that wouldn't be checked before we wanted to dine, so we opted for appetizers, drinks and desserts on patio in the Great Hall. The servers were very attentive, friendly and quick. The food was delicious -- especially the Chocolate Glacage (flourless torte). It was a very pleasant alternative to dinner in the dining room. The mosquitoes did come out and they frustrated some people, but we wouldn't let them chase us away! Great ambience. The Crater Lake Lodge Dining Room is open until 10pm, making it a better alternative for those staying in the park, especially since Annie's at Mazama Village closes at 8.

We had three meals there and enjoyed them. The food was very good, and service excellent! The lunch was very good, dinner good, and breakfast very good! All with wonderful service from the young staff with cheerful attitudes and loving where they work!
