We had a wonderful stay. The hosts were gracious and accommodating toward us. The property is lovely and we explored at length, enjoying the river, the fields, and the wildflowers. There are critters galore to keep you amused while you loll away your time.
The location is great for visiting Crater Lake and dinner in Klamath Falls.
Marshal and Suzan greeted us at the door, the labrador, too. Showed us to our log cabin with views overlooking the Williamson River. Birds, birds, everywhere....ducks, too. I got up at 5:00am to watch the ducks hop out of the river and peruse the leftovers from the bird feeders. Saw one of the bald eagles flying overhead while I was standing on the bank of the river painting. There were wildflowers every where and Suzan was working on the gardens surrounding the cabins which would be beautiful come summer. The cabin was so-so comfy and clean. Marshal was full of information on where to get the best views of the area and we followed his instructions, not to be disappointed. Looking forward to visiting Lonesome Duck Ranch again....soon.
My husband and I come here on an annual visit with friends and we couldn't be happier gathering here! It's a wonderful place to relax, unwind, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of nature and also high quality lodging. Lonesome Duck definitely gives you that very cozy, home feel, where you might like to meet with your family or friends on a continual basis. It gives you a feel of tradition. The full kitchen in the cabins is very accommodating and if you're looking for a true get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life, then this is the place for you!
Debbie and Steve Hilbert provide a wonderful central Oregon experience at the Lonesome Duck---you will not be lonesome with the gentle environment and setting, the Williamson River, bald eagles soaring overhead, and an experience you will enjoy and reflect on for years ahead---Been there several times and every time is better and more enjoyable than the last---good to know that you can count on something good in this day and age. The hosts, Debbie and Steve are committed to your having and excellent, and memorable experience in a low-key, relaxed Western environment...
I stayed in the cabin with 3 bedrooms as part of a group of 5 people. We had plenty of space to gather and to spread out. It's right on the Williamson River. I enjoyed watching the birds a the feeder, as well as the ducks, geese, and raptors that inhabit the area. If you are looking to stay near Crater Lake but would like a quiet "non touristy" kind of place, check it out. The hosts work hard, and are very welcoming!
My husband and I stayed at the Lonesome Duck Ranch for my 30th birthday in late February. We wanted to go snowshoeing at Crater Lake National Park and with few options open and available in winter I was so happy to come across the ranch. We stayed in the Arrowhead Cottage and with it being the off season we felt like we had the whole ranch to ourselves. Both the owners and managers of the property were extremely helpful and super welcoming. We loved that snowshoes were included in the rental which helped us save money on renting them later. The cottage was so cozy with the wood burning fireplace and tranquil views of the river. We loved having a full kitchen and gas grill on the covered porch. Although it's winter the property is still rich with wildlife we saw geese, ducks, jays, and even a nesting bald eagle! The ranch also has a resident friendly dog, horses, and llamas that we got to take on a walk! Overall we absolutely loved the ranch and I can't wait to go back in the summer to go fishing and kayaking! Thanks for the incredible birthday weekend!
We stayed at the Lonesome Duck Ranch after a last minute decision. Steve, the owner, handled the booking which was hassle free. His wife Debbie made us feel very welcome when we saw her later that evening.
Suzie and Marshall manage the property and they were very friendly and also welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. They gave us information on the local birds and wildlife and the best places to go see them.
The house itself was very comfortable and we cooked our own meals for the time we were there. There is no laundry facility in the house, but apart from that everything you could need. Wifi is available but only strong signal in the main bedroom. We weren't there to use the internet though :)
We saw many, many birds, we watched beavers and otters at play in the river. The ground squirrels were chasing each other around in the grass which was fun to watch.
Overall we had a wonderful experience at this beautiful location and would recommend it to others.
