“Great”
Reviewed October 22, 2012

We visited Crater Lake when the East Rim Drive was closed due to snow, however we really enjoyed our drive from the Lodge along the West Rim and out via the North Entrance. The drive provides a number of viewpoints along the way to get a different perspective of the lake, however the vista is very similar where ever you look and it was hard to beat the view from the Lodge itself.

“Spend the time”
Reviewed October 20, 2012

We took the drive all the way around the lake and loved it. If you come this far, breathe, relax, and enjoy. It was the right way to visit the Park. You will need a couple hours to do the whole thing.

“Take your time, drive clockwise”
Reviewed October 12, 2012

The road is full of turn-offs on the lake side, so driving clockwise means you can pull over without crossing traffic. And most of the stops and hikes have unique and amazing views, depending on the time of day. There are a lot of very narrow, curvy bits with steep drop-offs and plenty of deer out near dusk, so drive carefully. And if you're staying in the park, get up early for sunrise or stay up late for moonrise.

“Beautiful”
Reviewed October 12, 2012

I am from the east coast and normally hangout on the Appalachian Trail for the unique opportunities it offers, but this was a wonderful change of pace. Staying in Bend, Oregon it was a long drive and did not allow enough time to enjoy as I would have liked. Plan on arranging for a minimum stay of 6 hours and more if possible to drive the 33 miles around. Take lots of time at each viewpoint and extra time to use the several trails. I will return here with other family members.

“Check out all the viewpoints”
Reviewed October 3, 2012

Make sure that you have enough time to drive around the rim and check out each viewpoint. They are each unique.
