“Scenery at its Best”
Reviewed September 22, 2012

Every turn you make along the rim of Crater Lake is worth a stop and photo shot. If you don't like driving Crater Lake offers a shuttle bus you can take instead of driving.

“A Must”
Reviewed September 19, 2012

Be sure to drive all of the Rim Drive and stop at all of the viewpoints/overlooks. Each stop is unique and offers a different perspective on Crater lake and its environs. Where there are short trail associated with the viewpoints, they are well worth taking--especially Sunrise Notch, Pinnacle, Watchman's Peak, and discovery Point. If you are up to a real hike, I would recommend Mt. Scott and Garfield Peak..

“Sept is an ideal time”
Reviewed September 18, 2012

The road is a little scary in places, as there is a sheer drop-off on one side. We drove only the west side, and entered the park from the north fairly early in the morning, by 10 am. Although it was a Saturday, there was little traffic then, and we were able to find parking easily at the various viewpoints. Most of the west side has pretty continuous views of the lake, at least until you reach Rim Village.

“Still not fully open in mid-July”
Reviewed September 14, 2012

The altitude and latitude conspired to keep the southeast quarter of the road closed through the day we visited. Still, the views we enjoyed from the South and West were amazing.
