We traveled all 5 national parks in Southern Utah this October and this visitor center was one of best. Given size of center and the park I was impressed with the very informative geologic display of the formation of Capitol Reef. It is such a phenomenon that you have to have some info first before driving into park to enjoy the geomorphology. The movie at the center is a must too, gives you some of the early pioneer history as well. Very nice gift center too, some great maps including the Grand Circle map which I readily bought and was a great supplement throughout our multi park adventure. Be sure to spend the $2 or so for the brochure to guide you down the park's scenic drive. There are so many geologic structures to view that a guide is needed. Signposts are numbered along drive that correspond with the brochure. Fruita is delightful, the little settlement, but don't waste your time in the "store" it was a huge disappointment. Get a lunch in Torrey to bring with you and picnic at the beautiful Fruita park as you enter the park scenic drive (past the visitor center).
