“It makes you feel like a pioneer!”
Reviewed July 23, 2013

The scenic drive takes you to the Capitol Gorge Trail. It is a beautiful drive with both paved and unpaved roads. When you get to the end of the drive - walk the trail! You won't be sorry. It is amazing to think that pioneers in covered wagons came through that gorge.

“Red Rock Country”

Capitol Gorge Trail is a beautiful way to see the scenery in Capitol Reef Nation Park. It is a well managed road that cars, bikes, etc. can traverse with ease. Very beautiful! At the end of the drive their is a hiking trail. Easy but bring water.

“Wonderful views”
Reviewed July 4, 2013

This is a great little trail to explore. It takes you to the 'tanks' where water collects year around in otherwise pretty inhospitable surroundings.

The walk through the petroglyphs, and the pioneer register is easy till you reach the incline to the tanks. It's steep though not an incline. It is clearly marked and once you are up remember to look for two tanks and a natural bridge.

After seeing the sights we spent time hiking further up and were rewarded with even better views of the surroundings.

Make sure to take plenty of water as we hiked on a very hot day.

“Very nice hike”
Reviewed June 19, 2013

Was very windy the day I was there, but still a really nice relatively short (you can add more distance it you want) hike to petroglyphs, settlers signatures, and on up to the tanks. Even if you don't go all the way up, then down, to the tanks, the view out over Capitol Reef from up higher is spectacular!

“Long drive to trailhead”
Reviewed June 11, 2013

This was a long trip down into the gorge but the trip was worth it. Walking the gorge, you can get a real feel for all the earlier travelers. There are writings on some of the walls of these earlier travelers. Pretty cool to see!
