Aztec Butte was a great introduction to Canyonlands. It is a fairly quick climb up the butte with rewarding vistas from the top. We climbed up with our 2 4-year olds, and while it was a challenge for them, they made it to the top with minimal help. The hike starts with about half a mile across high desert wash and then becomes a slickrock climb zigzagging up the butte's face. The flowers in early June were beautiful as well. It is very exposed hike, so watch it in the heat, but it is one of the few short hikes in the park which give immediate rewards.
