The local layers of the earth are exposed so visibly here! There is very pleasing color contrast between the layers. And it’s a compact enough view, it’s in some ways easier to visually grasp that a view from the rim of the Grand Canyon of the Colorado. Here, the Green River may be seen just upstream from where it joins the Colorado.
It may seem somewhat out of the way to make to this dead end but I think this is what the parks are here for. I wish time permitted us to hike out 1.6 km on the Grand Viewpoint Trail. As it is, members of our group broke out in song at the splendor here. More
