“Out Of The Way But A Must See!!”
Reviewed July 13, 2013

This entrance to the park is 25 miles off the main road (no food, gas, or lodging), but well worth a visit. The views reminded me of the Grand Canyon...after all, the "Island in the Sky is bordered by the Green River to the west and the Colorado River to the east, and the convergence of these two mighty rivers (into the Mighty Colorado that eventually flows into the Grand Canyon) is just South of "Island in the Sky." Although we did no hiking, we did stop at every overlook and easily took four hours savoring every breathtaking, expansive view. Not so well known as the Grand Canyon so there was little traffic. A very special place!

“The Land Before Time”
Reviewed July 12, 2013

We went to Canyonlands as part of our road trip across national parks Utah. This was undoubtedly our favorite park. The views were breathtaking. It really feels like you're in an era where the dinosaurs roamed the earth. The crowd in this park was much smaller than other parks we visited so it was very relaxing. You could take your time exploring and taking panoramic shots with your camera. The sceneries in this park are very unique so it's definitely worth a visit even if you've toured a number of other national parks within the US already.

“Cayonlands”

Well worth spending the day, stopping at every overview. Couldn't get enough of those massive red rocks, spectacular views. Short drive from Moab - gateway to Canyonlands, Arches National Park, La Sal National Forest, and the cute little Hole in the Rock. Probably best to visit before May or earlier before the heat sets in.

“Sheer sandstone cliffs over 1,000 feet above surrounding terrain”
Reviewed June 30, 2013

The Island in the Sky Mesa is just what it says. An area of flat land miles long, miles wide, where the surrounding terrain has been eroded, leving it high in the sky. Every overlook offers a different perspective on the park's spectacular landscape. Use the Island to see the most overlook pullouts, along a paved scenic drive.
If you only have 2 hours..... Drive toGrand View Point, Green River Overlook and then hike to Mesa Arch. Refills the soul.

“Spectacular Scenery”
Reviewed June 27, 2013

Islands in the sky is North of Moab roughly a 45min drive making this part of Canyonlands a lot busier than The Needles district.

This is a must see park with unbelievebly vast views. The views from opposite the visitors centre are a glimpse of what the rest of the park is like. There are plenty of spectacular views from the many viewpoints which only require short easy hikes - some on paved paths others on dirt trails.

Magnificent views of a massive natural wonder!
