“An excellent ride through the woods”

The Acadia carriage ride was a nice way to spend the late part of the afternoon. We had a 4pm ride scheduled and nowhere else to be that day, which was good, because out 2 hour ride was more like 2.5 hours with the slow horses. The ride was nice and went up the mountain at a leisurely pace. Ashley, our guide was very nice and provided quite a bit of information about the area, the hill and our horses. I would not recommned if you have somewhere you need to be immediately after the ride, just in case.

We did the 2-hour Mountain Summit tour. Here are the pluses:
- Beautiful scenery
- nice carriage

Here are the minuses:
- Driver provided no background or guidance on what we were seeing - I would have appreciated getting more history on the Park, local area, etc.
- Kind of slow-moving - 2 hours was too long
- Kind of expensive - in light of comments above

The tour was one and a half hours instead of two. There was almost no narration. The topic of our tour was "Stone Bridges". We were shown only 2 bridges (there are 16 stone bridges in Acadia). It looks like that carriages are moving in a very slow speed just to spend more time. So it is just a nice ride through the woods.

The decision to travel Acadia's carriage roads the way that Mr. Rockefeller intended them to be used was a wonderful choice. We were able to book the two hour trip to see the cobblestone bridge and it was well worth the price. The wagon held all the passengers with plenty of room and our guides, Bruce & Clay, were funny, educational and very knowledgeable about not only the carriage roads but Acadia park as well. The horses were so beautiful and the ride was smooth and provided many beautiful views. I strongly suggest this attraction any time of the year as I am sure that the views are wonderful with each season.

For the price this was a pretty decent 1 hour ride from a two horse drawn carriage up some of the most picturesque scenes in Acadia National Park. If you are looking for a "tour", I would specifically call this an actual tour since the driver did not say much and I think I knew a bit more about the park than they did. However, it was a nice leisurely ride through the carriage trails and allowed you to see scenery you would not normally see if you were walking by yourself. The price for adults was $20 and kids depending on age were either $5 or $10 which was not bad at all. They even allowed you to take pictures with your kids at the end although some of the actual stable staff could have been just a bit more friendlier. One of the female staff members looked at us like we were bothering the horses and disrupting her day. Still in all not a bad ride and worth the price.
