The drive is extremely beautiful with winding roads surrounded by mountains on one side and the pacific on the other. There are several spots for parking and I have seen a lot of people carrying their camping chairs and sitting on the rocks reading books or even just sitting on the rocks and enjoying the nature. We have come across bikers and the road passes through couple of popular hiking spots. Overall me and my wife totally loved driving through the park loop and also had very relaxing time just watching the nature and the waves hitting the rocks. Beautiful drive, beautiful location and a must visit if you are in Bar Harbor area.

We live in Arkansas and took a very long road trip in June 2013. We say many beautiful and amazing places. Acadia is our favorite! We have always said we wanted to find a place where the mountains meet the ocean. We found it! Our only regret is it's so far from us.

We traveled the loop road many times. We found something new and exciting around every turn. The best way to enjoy this is to pack a cooler and basket and just stop and find a rock to watch the waves do their thing. Don't hurry just enjoy!

We loved the first pull off from the visitors center. If you're willing to climb down some rocks you get right down to the waters edge and see all the sealife clinging to the edges. There was even a family of the native water fowl learning to maneuver the waves. In Arkansas they would be ducks but they are something else.

We want to go back! It was amazing! God did a great job when he created Acadia!

Part of the park is closed in the winter, so make sure you check the park website before you go. The Loop Road is partially open and well marked. I'm pretty sure it was just me and one other person enjoying the scenery the day I was there. The pictures I got are just beyond breathtaking. New England in the winter is always beautiful, but this place is even more so. The cliffs, the islands, the harbors, the beaches, the birds, the deer, it was all incredible. So if your nearby, don't let the season turn you away!
There were less people, no fees, and all the beauty was still there!

Loop roads are common in national parks, and great options for families who need to keep kids interested. And the one in Acadia National Park delivers on those counts.

Not surprisingly, afternoon drives on beautiful summer days will mean crowds at popular stops like Sand Beach, Thunder Hole and Otter Cliffs. If you're looking for solitude and beautiful light for photos, you'll need to get up early instead.

Even making several stops, you can easily do the drive in just a few hours and get a great sampling of this wonderful park. But there's no need to rush; take your time and soak in the beautiful scenery!

Loved the park and Loop Road! Fantastic vistas and breathtaking views from the top of the mountain. Only problem was many bathroom facilities were closed for the season and had to really look hard to find open ones!
