“Arcadia...land of enchantment”
Reviewed April 3, 2013

The Park Loop Road wraps around a portion of Arcadia National Park with many places to park and enjoy short or long hikes, virtual view of the ocean from your vehicle and is free to seniors with the National pass. All others purchase the week pass if you plan to return. The rocky coast of Maine is on display in it's finest wardrobe with waves crashing into the shore creating (every 13) a large splash. A photographers dream come true.
Visit Otter Point for a picnic on the rocks while your children look for star fish, sea urchins and other forms of sea life before the seagulls get them...do this on an outgoing tide. Visit Jordan Pond House for a delicious popover and lobster roll or cup of stew. Take a day and enjoy Sand Beach..Hint: the water is warmer on an incoming tide. There is an excellent carriage ride around the trails for a fee. The list goes on and on...but the key common denominator is they are all approached from the Park Loop Road. even if you never get out of your car the views of the ocean will be worth the trip. Stop at the Visitors Center for free maps and guide books. No better time for so little cost. Hint: use the free buses; they will even take your bikes.

“Incredible ocean views from towering rocks!”
Reviewed March 31, 2013 via mobile

Acadia National Park is NOT to be missed if you are anywhere in, or near, Maine! Towering rock formations to explore as the ocean rolls to its base, Sand Beach with its rare sandy (rather than rocky) shoreline, birds and amazing wildlife, and an ocean roll that sounds like thunder in a portion of the park. Watch for moose, mink, seals and the elusive Puffin. Small neighboring towns with warm, genuine welcomes made our trip relaxing and peaceful. If you love the wild and need to escape the busy and tense side of life, head to coastal Maine.

“Take your time and enjoy!”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

This is a beautiful drive through one of our national parks. Pull over at every opportunity and get out and explore! You can't go too slow! When asked what our favorite meal was, we both have answered our PB and J sandwiches, sitting on the rocks overlooking the ocean on the Loop Road. Thunder hole is a fun stop. A delightful trip through the park!

“Beautiful Drive”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

Visiting in early October will lessen the crowds. There wasn’t much traffic on the roads or in the parking lots except for the Jordan Pond House. We drove around the parking lot twice and left after not being able to find a spot. The colors are beautiful this time of year. The park is very clean as most visitors honor the “leave no trace” rule. Thunder Hole is blocked off this time of year. Some of our best pictures came from Otter Point. In early morning you can get the sun coming up over the ocean. The drive can be done in a couple of hours or a full day depending on your agenda.
