Acadia NP is of course lovely, and we are glad we visited. But this visitor center is poor. Packed on a summer weekend, the center is up many stairs. Fine, I don't mind a walk, but it is quite small and crowded. There weren't enough staff on hand to deal with all the visitors. There was a gigantic line for the three women's toilet stalls. The gift shop section was overpriced. In short, it was a zoo. There is a National Park center in Bar Harbor itself, and had we known where it was before, we would have just gone there instead. If you are staying right in Bar Harbor, or get there early so you can park, do yourself a favor and utilize the facility in Bar Harbor, which will give you much more time to do what you came for: exploring Acadia National Park. Definitely avid the visitor center if you can, especially in peak summer season.
