The view is spectacular from the mountain. The walking loop is not too strenuous and I recomment parking and taking the walk to enjoy the exceptional views.

The highest point on the Atlantic seaboard and the first place in America to see the sun - what is not to like? From the sumit you can see 13 lighthouses and breathtaking views, especially when the cruise ships are in. The drive up is not difficult and the trip is worth it. And if you watch the sunrise, don't forget to go to the Chamber office on Cottage Street to pick up your card!

We went to watch the sunset after a beautiful day in the park. The view was beautiful from the top but it was extremely cold even though we were well dressed. As for the sunset itself, I have seen prettier, however, combined with the amazing view it was well worthwhile. We parked at the top, but driving back down, I agree with other recommendations, that if you can catch a parking spot on the way up it will be just as good.
Like everything else we saw in Acadia, this too was wonderful.

On the way up to the top there are some pullouts that afford a good view of the surroundings.
The parking lot at the top is fairly small. We arrived late in the morning (beginning of October) and had to circle the lot twice before an empty space was available. Taking public transportation (bus) to the top is a good alternative.

While the elevation is just over 1500 feet, the view from the top is excellent.
There is a short, 0.3 mile, path around the peak which affords different views. Both the ocean bay and the adjacent hillside are beautiful sights.

Even if you have only a short time in Acadia National Park you should not miss Cadillac Mountain.
