We stopped there last week twice and, all though not a lot of thundering was happening, it's a very picturesque place to visit. There are lots of places to walk around atop rocks along the shore. I know the thunder part has to happen under very specific conditions, so don't be upset if it doesn't live up to your expectations on your first visit. You probably won't hear much on a nice, calm day but that also means you'll have a great day elsewhere at the park. Stormy conditions are best for "thundering" here which also likely means the rest of your park experience will be dampered by the weather.
So take the good with the bad, and enjoy this spot for what it is all the time which is beautiful and don't worry about what it is some of the time which is loud.
