Very cool boom of thunder when the water rolls in, just be careful where your standing! If the ground is wet, odds are you're going to get wet if you stand there long enough. Lots of tourists, lots of cameras. Saw a number of people venture out for cool photos, but don't recommend that given the chances of being hit by a wave.

Parked right next to it and walked right down. It was low tide but we still got to see and hear the thunder waves. We climbed on the rocks here too.

Although we didn't time this visit right to see Thunder Hole at it's finest. we still enjoyed the scenic views. I was surprised to see so many people climbing over the fences to dangerous areas on the rocks, and wished there had been someone there with the authority to call them back. That was the only thing that spoiled our visit to this beautiful spot. This is a must see in Acadia.

this is an amazing natural rock formation. as with everything in acadia come prepared for any kind of weather at all times. the walk to the actual hole isn't long but can be quite slippery when the weather is bad. the drive along the loop to and fron the parking area also offers great views

Take the walk from the Sand Beach parking area along the coast trail all the way to the Otter Cliff end. That is the real star attraction.

Thunder Hole is only impressive when the tide is at its highest and wildest. The rest of the time it is just a slot in the rocks surrounded by stainless steel hand rails and too many people.
