“Interesting birding and hikes”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

We went birding with the guide from the Nature Center. He was prepared and presented interesting commentary. We did see a number of birds on the walk. We stayed in the harbor area and on the Shore path.

“Birdwatching is One of the BEST Things To Do In Acadia National Park”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2012

Bring along your binoculars and Bird Book, because you are in for a treat if you take pretty much any of the trails in the Park. There are a variety of birds who live here year-round and many who stop by on their way to Canada or down south for the winter. There are Eagles, Peregrine Falcons, Chickadees, Pine Siskens, Purple Finches, Gold Finches, White Throated Sparrows, and on and on - be sure to pick up a bird book so you can identify the many varieties you'll see. However, be sure to go on a cooler day. On the hot days, the birds (like the people) tend to stay in the deep woods to keep cool. Also, early morning and evening are the best. My favorites are the Robins who sit up at the tippy tops of the pine trees at sun up and sun down and sing the most beautiful song of any bird I've ever heard. I've spent 25 years being serenaded by the Robins especially at sun set, and it never fails to make my own heart sing with them!
