I spent two weeks at the hotel while on business. Major positives, Clean rooms, good linen, towels & toiletries. Friendly helpful staff, always happy to assist with any advice or request. Reasonable mini bar prices, good breakfast with local cuisine, differs slightly each day. Only negatives were no room service, smallish rooms and weak aircon in room. Overall a good hotel with close to international standards.

Not much to choose from around here. Happy with this choice. Small but clean and comfortable. Reasonably priced. Small fitness center but good for one night for us. Restaurant was only for breakfast and no bar, but the gas station next door had beer thankfully.

I have stayed here several times, only because I had business in Americana. The rooms and bathrooms are clean, but small. Internet is slow. There is usually one person at the front desk with limited english skills. The continental breakfast is included. The location is "safe", but not convenient for dining options. You will either eat in the hotel restaurant (not recommended), or need to take a taxi to a better restaurant.

The Florenca Palace Hotel has many things wrong and not much right.

Good:
Friendly service
Good wireless internet
Good selection of english TV channels

Bad:
Location is not very good, not many restaurants/shops within walking distance
Breakfast is included, however it leaves much to be desired
Small rooms
Claustrophobic bathroom
Noisy AC in rooms with no temp control
A lot of noise in room from street
Very little storage for clothes
Only two outlets in room

In the end you would be better off staying in Campinas

Room Tip: Ask for a room that does not face the street

This hotel was booked for me by a resident of Americana on heresay that it was the best in town. He was told that all the rooms were luxury standard.

On arrival my room was very nice with modern furniture and neutral colour scheme but small for the "luxury"tag and the bathroom (no bath just shower) was quite tiny. First problem was how to turn on the AC. A call to reception (English limited) finally brought somebody up to the room after first confirming that the key card was in the power slot. After climbing on a chair to reach the AC unit the receptionist finally remembered where the on/off switch for the AC was. It was in the base of headboard for the bed along with the master light switches, but all were hidden behind stacks of pillows and a pack of hotel branded toiletries wrapped in cellophane and tied with a big purple bow. Most of these were repeated in the bathroom.

After getting the AC on, very noisily and with little power making standing outside the hotel cooler than my room and making sleeptime very restless, I read the welcome pack. 4 fotocopied pages with internal telephone numbers and restaurant opening times and 2 pages of room inventory with replacement prices for everything from a bath mat to the TV should you break, steal, damage or otherwise mis-use anything. Some welcome!

Dinner was fine in the hotel restaurant but nothing special. Very attentive and cheerful staff but when presented with the bill I was asked to sign a chit for every single item I had had - seperately. On my insistence a single itemised bill was finally produced but not without much discussion and heavy sighs from the staff.

Breakfast was pretty standard but despite plenty of staff hot food was not replenished without asking.

Throughout my stay all the guest floors and rooms reaked with an all pervading smell of a sweet, floral type air-freshener which after a couple of days started to make me feel sick. One wonders what it was trying to hide.

My lasting impression of the hotel, formulated whilst I was resident, was that the staff were accomodating but that the luxury tag claimed was more wish than fact. Everything about the hotel was for show with no substance. Efficiently working AC and the ability to present bills in a professional manner I think are an absolute minimum in any reasonable hotel. It felt like the hotel was somebody's hobby based on what they had seen as a guest in other hotels but with no experienceof the actual nuts and bolts of running a hotel.

Hence my view that attention was given to the wrong details. Packs of toiletries do not make you cool and comfortable, threats of charges for breakages etc. do not make you relaxed, bad accounting procedures do not help you complete your expense claim sheet and air fresheners do not hide amateurish management practices.
