Mt Tamborine Motel
Reviewed March 26, 2014

My husband and I recently spent 6 nights at Mt Tamborine Motel. Its an old place but the beautiful location makes up for it. The room we had was clean and comfortable but basic and it was cleaned everyday. Every morning we could have coffee sitting out on the balcony just looking at the wonderful greenery and wild life. Then we would go into Tamborine village for our breakfast. The people who ran it were very friendly and gave us maps etc so that we could find our way around. We went around next door to the St Bernards Hotel for a drink and on Thursday nights they have a roast meal for $10 which was good.We will definately stay there again, had a great week.

Room Tip: have a room with a balcony the view is too good to miss.

This place smacks of managers making an effort. It wasn't built yesterday, but it's clean and comfortable, and the people go out of their way to make you feel welcome, and look after your needs. The door to our room was a couple of metres from the swimming pool (very nice) and the front led onto a lovely semi-tropical garden. An extraordinary experience was that a magnificent peacock came to visit us in the morning, from the garden, and seemed very happy to stick around for half an hour to see if we spoke Pekinese.
Certainly a place I'd go back to, if the occasion arose.

we recently spent 7 nights at Mt Tamborine Motel. The rooms are cool in the heat and it was great to be able to open up both doors - main door and balcony door and let the lovely mountain breeze flow through the room day or night.
There was definately a family atmosphere with the rooms being clean and tidy and the linen immaculate.
The accommodation prices are absolutely the cheapest and best value for money on the Mountain. You could pay twice as much at some of the other Hotels on the mountain at this time of the year - December-January.
Also being able to eat and drink at the next door Hotel was a plus and very convenient.
We will not being staying anywhere else when we come back which we will.

Close to near where we needed to be it does have nice views from the upstairs rooms. The bathroom could do with some work: flushing the toilet resulted in a wonderful "pipe symphony" which got old pretty quickly. I was given a late check out which was helpful to us. The room was, overall, tired. Not cheap but accommodation is not cheap at Tamborine. But I would have liked a bit more "quality."

Checkout meant dropping the room key in the box on the desk while the manager/owner (presumably) spoke to some worker and didn't acknowledge my presence at all. Not great PR in my opinion, especially with a plethora of other accommodation options.

Room Tip: Upstairs for the views.

My partner and I recently stay at Mt Tamborine Motel. Chris and Vicki the owners were very friendly and helpful.
We looked at a number of options and found this to be the most reasonably priced accommodation in the area.
The view from our upstairs room was magical - even the downstairs rooms have pleasant views of the garden.
Our room was exceptionally clean and very well appointed with everything we needed for our short stay.
We will defiantly stay again.

The rooms are basic, we arrived on a cold night and there was only a one bar electric heater for the whole room. However, the staff did bring an extra heater when requested.

The towels are very thin, there is no heating in the bathroom and you are limited to 4 minute showers and have to wait 10 mins between showers because of water shortage, they are not on town water. There is no wifi for iPads or iPhones. The views from the motel were stunning.
I think for $165 a night our stay was not value for money.

The pub next door was cosy and had home cooked food, roast nights on Thursday.

The Motel is very nice neat with all the things that you require eg Microwave and toaster coffee making equipment and toaster. the rooms are clean and are cleaned every day if you require the view down the valley is just beautiful and as it was very cold , it was very misty ..The best thing is that iit is next door to the St bernards hotel where the food is wonderful , with a crackling fire and warm surroundings . all in all a wonderful long weekend.

our thanks to chris.
