Average food (the greave next door serve about the same). I ordered a bottle of cider which appeared in a glass (no bottle), I ordered second bottle further into the meal, this time a glass and a bottle was brought to the table - the glass was bigger than the previous one yet it would not hold all of the contents of the bottle - work that one out.
Service was excellent, very efficient, probably a bit too much as we had only just had our plates taken before our next course was delivered

No, not the restaurant but the guest of honour at the birthday celebration held at The Manor on Sunday!

As to enjoyment however, the Manor came up trumps on a wet and windy March day. With over 20 guests in the party, it would have been understandable if the restaurant had requested the menu choices be pre-ordered but that was not the case and none of our group had any cause to complain about the level of service.

One thing to note for any intended visitors in a wheelchair the level access route is through the very pretty rear garden and not through the front door but there are disabled parking spaces adjacent to the rear entrance. That gets you into the pre-meal area and there are then three steps up to the eating area but that is no problem - a very good purpose built ramp is produced immediately and the very attentive staff whisk the wheelchair away if the occupant wishes to sit in an ordinary seat.

Because our party had to split between two tables it was necessary to lay an additional setting on one and this was achieved by the staff without our having to request it - full marks for observation and attention to detail.

As to the food, we all had nothing but praise as it reached the very high standard set by the staff with whom we came into contact.

This was our first visit to this restaurant and although our visits will be infrequent because we live almost 200 miles away, we shall definitely return at some time in the future and I hope that some of those people who wrote such disparaging reviews will give the Manor an opportunity to provide them with a similarly enjoyable experience that we had.

Been a few times and found the Menus exagerated somewhat .. The meals are boring , and chefs making poor dishes of local produce , possibly Aldi or Lidel.,our last visit found staff obnoxious and unhelpful to requests of being served Extra roast potatoes. She gave one and pulled a face at that. The prices are so overpriced , for instance steaks from the grill being priced at over £20. Go to Birkenhead market and you can get two rib eye or sirloin for £6.00. I promise equally as good. We will not return .

I visited The Manor for a family birthday celebration on a Sunday. Although I had lived in the area for 30 years I had never been to the restaurant before, I have definitely missed out!

The restaurant ambience was lovely and there was plenty of space to stand or sit whilst we waited for our table.

When our table was ready we had to arrange a ramp as someone in our party was in a wheelchair and the restaurant is NOT STEP FREE. The ramp was brought out promptly and this allowed the guest to join us at the table.

The menu offered 2 courses for £14.95 (beef roast was a small supplement).

The food was simply delicious, all guests in the party enjoyed what they had ordered. We were particularly impressed that we didn’t have to pre-order considering we were a party of 20. All food arrived swiftly and was piping hot. A downside was that my lemon posset was not set so it was a creamy lemony soup however still tasted great.

Please note you are not allowed to eat any birthday cakes that you bring to the restaurant. The host of the event had not been made aware of this prior to the day so was slightly disappointed. It also wasn’t made clear why this is the case.

Toilets were clean and tidy.

Overall a great visit, I would strongly recommend.

Went on Tuesday evening and, when we asked for a table for two, were told we would have to vacate by 7 pm! This was no problem as we had had a very long journey driving back from Spain and just wanted a nice meal. The place was nearly empty.

When we ordered just two mains, and no starters, we were told by the ‘full of himself’ head honcho that we would have to wait 30 minutes for our meals. Told him this was no problem but he wasn’t pleased - we were obviously not spending enough for him!

The two young waiters were lovely and made up for his high-handed attitude!

We have been there several times and its the first time we have ever felt uncomfortable. He needs to not take himself and the venue too seriously! There are plenty of other alternatives in the area.
