“Charming Atmosphere.”
Reviewed April 22, 2014

We stayed for 3 nights during March and always looked forward to returning at night to the warm and cosy log fires. The premises is under new management and the the new Owner is obviously making a great difference. We didnt eat here at night although the food looked fabulous. The breakfast was really good and the staff very helpful and friendly. We would certainly return.

Room Tip: It is quieter at the back.

We've just had a couple of nights here and everything was great. A great base for our walking weekend, surrounded by beautiful countryside, a good hearty breakfast to set us up for the days walking! Our room was as advertised, clean and comfortable. The staff here were friendly and helpful, and our meals delicious! Only wish we could have stayed longer! X

Beautiful character pub in a gorgeous location close to the Yorkshire Dales! we enjoyed a delicious meal in the restaurant and the staff were friendly and helpful - especially Katie and Kevin who went out of their way to explain local attractions and how to get there! The room was tastefully decorated clean and very comfortable.with a reasonable tariff including a full English breakfast we would highly recommend the Devonshire Arms!

Room Tip: Room 5 was small but advertised as such other rooms may be larger.

I chose this pub due to its location and food reviews. Nicely placed out the way of the hustle and bustle. Rooms reasonably priced at £65 a night. Warm friendly atmosphere and restaurant soon filled up with guests. Food was fantastic, I had queen scallops to start and a 10oz Sirloin blue, bang on, great tasting local meat with no messing about. Would definitely stay again if in the area again for work.

Thank you for your review. I'm delighted to hear you enjoyed your scallops and that the steak was 'bang on'!! We have had a full refurb downstairs and are now working hard to bring upstairs to the same standards. Next time you stay there may be even more surprises!!

Stayed here last weekend, following a lovely meal in the restaurant. We were here for a Birthday celebration and there were 40 of us in total. Despite our number, the kitchen coped admirably and the food and service was very good. Location for travelling around the Yorkshire Dales is excellent.
The room was adequate and the breakfast was enjoyable and well cooked. The sausages were lovely!!
I understand that the owners have only been there since July 2013 and that they have totally transformed the place.
Thanks for a good weekend, we will be back!!

Thank you for your review especially about the sausages!! I will let Mr Jackson know you liked them. I'm glad we didn't disappoint with either quality or service despite the numbers being served at the party. We look forward to welcoming you again soon.

This, as the landlord pointed out, is a pub with rooms. The pub has been newly refurbished and has a very welcoming atmosphere. Our room was very comfortable. It faced the rear of the pub with lovely views over the fells. The room was large and tastefully decorated. It was a little cold when we arrived but there was a heater in the room as well as the radiator. For those who like the outdoors the pub is in a lovely setting between Skipton and Grassington. We ate at the pub and the food and service we're great. The food was well prepared and had some interesting choices on the menu. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we will certainly make a return visit. Highly recommended. It has the benefit of being on the Tour de France Grand Depart route.

My wife and I chose to eat at the Devonshire for the first time this week and we were pleasantly surprised. Not that the food was good and that the venue and service were good which you would expect almost anywhere half decent now but that it was so much better than that. A warm welcome matched the ambience and the food was very good. We'll certainly be going back and we'd recommend the Devonshire
