My girlfriend and I decided to get away for two nights after our exams and stumbled upon Red Rock Inn. It is about an hour away from Thunder Bay. Don was a fantastic host! He greeted us and showed us our room and told us about all of the histories of the town. He gave us a tour of the Inn explained its unique story. This is an extraordinary place to stay, it is old and unique with magnificent views and hiking trails nearby. Don was kind enough to provide us with food as well and along with live music definitely made our stay a fantastic get away from reality

Room Tip: Ask for the marina view, catch the sunrise/set and possibly the northern lights

After reading about the owner's single-handed efforts to return this eighty year old, company-owned hotel to its former glory, we had to try it. Renovations are constantly underway and bugs still being ironed out but the room that we were given had a great bed, gas fireplace, wing-back chairs and fully renovated bathroom. We spent a very comfortable night. Don, the owner, is very accommodating. He is a former Red Rock resident and employee at this hotel, and is very knowledgeable about local sights and history. The views over Lake Superior from the hotel are superb. We hope to stop in again on our return to Ontario.

Room Tip: The rooms on the front overlook Lake Superior.

We were on our way to stay in Thunder Bay, while returning from a long road trip and spotted a sign on the road to Red Rock, and decided to go and investigate. We drove around the small community and were enchanted by the neatness, beauty and setting. After spotting the Red Rock Inn we were intrigued. We ended up staying in a newly renovated room with our own gas fireplace, cosy chairs, brand new bathroom and real wood floors. Don, the new owner, is making it his mission to renovate every room in this large 80 plus years, three story brick country inn. He is doing a great job and even made us a lovely breakfast that was not expected. If you want something different, in a peaceful enchanting setting, I would suggest you stay here. Lake Superior spreads out before you with a park next and then the Red Rock Inn. We had such a great sleep with the fresh air, and quiet. Don is a very interesting man and a gracious host with a vision for this former "sleeping beauty". We would gladly stay there again.

Room Tip: For a brand new room try the main floor. For a real budget room try the second floor.
