“Superb beer and service!”
Reviewed August 13, 2014

We visited The Gunnery Brasserie in the early evening after one of the hottest days in July. We had cycled there and felt quite hot and in need of refreshment and the beer we selected was superb. As it was a Thursday and Steak Night, we ordered our meals and the steaks were of a good size and cooked to perfection. The roasted tomato and chips were delicious. Even the side order of vegetables was generous and worthy of praise.
We were warmly welcomed even though we were dressed as cyclists (not lycra!) and the attentive staff took our order and checked later to see if we were happy. We were and we will return.

“dinner for two”
Reviewed August 4, 2014

Hadn't been here recently. Looks like a change of staff. Everyone at least as friendly as last time and maybe more. Sufficient menu options plus guest beers. Service with a smile. Food was good. We try and eat in the bar as its got a good atmosphere. Very busy when we were there but service was good

“Big Improvement ”
Reviewed August 3, 2014 via mobile

Living in the village puts me off writing reviews usually, however, this place has got better and better in our last few visits. The change of staff being the focal point. All the girls were fantastic, really welcoming atmosphere; which has been predominantly what this place lacked. Really good soundtrack playing in the background, and Its great that there having more live music throughout the month. The food was brilliant, great bar menu also if you only want picky food. Really hope it continues. Really nice venue, look forward to returning.

“Gin&Tonics”
Reviewed August 1, 2014

We have frequented this establishment for many years,as a couple and with friends.
We recently visited under the new management and we were very disappointed.
We sat down for what was going to be an afternoon of drinks before walking home for dinner.
It took 10 minutes for someone to take our drinks order and another 10 for them to arrive.
We had a double and a single gin and tonic, the bill was £18?!.

“Disappointing!”
Reviewed July 26, 2014

We went back to this restaurant because we went around Christmas 2013 and enjoyed it. This visit wasn't quite as good, although the steak was fabulous the service was disappointing. We found the waiter frustrating he didn't really explain anything and kept walking away while we were speaking to him. Consequently a little shocked the the cost of the drinks at the end never been anywhere before where they charge you for the lemonade in a Pimms! We won't be going back.
